Where can I get a new antenna?

The antenna on my 2004 SLK230 is about 18" tall...Where can I order a smaller one?

I have heard that you can replace it with the SL antenna, but I haven't had any luck finding anywhere to buy it online.

you can not change it since SL's antenna is for phone only while new SLK uses one antena for phone and radio.

What antenna does the SL use for radio? Do you know of a way to replace the SLK's antenna?

Have you found a way to replace the SLK antenna? Talk about fup details! And the CD changer filling up the entire glove-box! And the primitive wind blocker net...

The SL and new SLK antennaes can be interchanged physically.

I just got a new SL one and it cost 28GBP, prepainted in Obsidian Black.

Dealer insisted you could swap em on the new SLK. I did try and point out that the SL one is stubby as it didn't do the radio (its in the windscreen on an SL), whereas the SLK one did. He blabbed on about how it didn't matter and the radio still worked. Maybe it does in town but.... Then I got bored of trying to have a serious technical conversation with a salesman.

On Benzworld.org, this has been a greatly discussed subject. While it may be physically possible to put the SL antenna on the SLK, they are completely different and in Europe, those who have done this are reporting extremely disappointing results. Mind you at great expense. I'm not sure why people find the SLK antenna objectionable in the first place. It's not really unattractive and since it was designed to accomodate the communication needs of the SLK, it seems there are probably better ways to spend one's money. i.e., leave well enough alone..........

There is a reason why everybody is disappointed. You don't put a fixed (non retractable) antenna in a luxury car, especially MB, especially MB roadsters, especially MB AMG roadsters, especially at this price range! It would have been so easy to put it in the windshield, just like SL. It wouldn't be expensive neither because the windshield is laminated anyway (not one piece)!

MB will fix this and other shortcomings later on. They have already admitted they are looking for an alternative to the wind deflector net. Even MB knows they goofed up

They have solved the wind deflector net issue. In the 4th quarter of this year, SLK 350 and SLK 55 owners will be able to purchase (at extra cost) a plexiglass wind deflector. I'm expeting it to cost in the $500 (US) range, which is pretty pricey, but I've already asked my dealer to order one in advance of the arrival of my car.
