Optional Sport Body for SLK350? Or standard for Canada/US?

Compare this car that was posted by one of the mbworld members...

Which looks normal... but then if you look at this...

... the front, sides, and back look a lot more aggressive, but it is definitely not the SLK55 AMG. For example the AMG has grilles in front of the front wheels. So this seems to be in between a plain SLK and the AMG version.

The picture comes from this website (which is supposed to be an SLK 350 for Canada?): http://www.auto123.com/en/info/news/...py?artid=26362

So does anyone know if that is an optional sport package for the SLK350, or if that is going to be the way the North American version looks like? I personally prefer the more aggressive look (almost like an AMG), but maybe some of you will like the first one better.

That is the AMG sports package for the SLK350. It comes with the AMG body kit, 5 spoke AMG wheels, and sport suspension.

Oh, and in the US, the stock wheels on the 350 are 10 spoke wheels. http://www.mbusa.com/main/container....ain.jsp&menu=2

Thanks for the clarification! Do you have any idea as to how much extra the sport package would cost? Do you think there will be any way to get ONLY the AMG body kit (without the sport suspension, wheels, etc.)?

Hey Roger1,

Chances are it will come as an optional AMG sport package for the SLK350.....you might even have to pay a little extra more to get the 18" AMG 5 spoke wheels (the ones shown in the article). As for the exact pricing you'll just have to wait and see.....Or, you can just get the SLK55, then all the skirts and wheels comes standard.

The AMG body kit alone is not an option in the US... I'm not sure what the cost of the package will be, but pricing will probably be available next month or so. I usually just check the Mercedes websites for other countries and see what the pricing is like. For example, in the UK, they have this pricing file: http://www.mercedes-benz.co.uk/pc/pc.../pricelist.pdf

Nice article .....From the look of the pictures, it seems like the Canadian models will be getting a retractable radio antenna (or better yet an antenna similar to that of the SL). For those who have seen the US model SLK, can you tell me whether it's the same as the Canadian version?

Looks like the antenna was removed during the tests. I saw the same thing done at the NY auto show.

it's already a great looking car, but i think the AMG package highlights the aggressive, bold, and sporty design of the car. not to mention the bigger wheels and upgraded suspension. i bet it will be an expensive option though.

That's what I'm doing.....Remember, spending that much on options will not affect the resale value of the car. In the blue book, it still be listed as a SLK350, despite spending 5000$-8000$ in options.
