No Manual for north american market??!?!

i just ordered a SLK 350 and wanted one in manual but they told me that it was impossible since there is no manual coming to the north american market.

thats so gay i was looking forward to stick so much whats with mercedes and there auto's?!? i mean if this car is supposed to be the hardcore sports car for the benz line up they should at least give it the option of stick...at least then i wouldnt feel like this is such a girls car and is more fun to drive.

O btw my SLK is coming in the end of november.

Thats BS. The 350 comes standard with the 6-speed manual.
The auto box is an optional extra.

go to another dealer, yours is *******g retarded. the slk 350 will be in a manual standard in the US. he prob. just wants you to spend the extra $ on an auto. so yeah, go to another dealer, he's full of it.

tell the dealer not to play games, and read his book twice. you are the customer, you are spending the money. let him know that he needs to know his stuff.

simply, tell him to go into netstar and take off the "automatic" option.

that should fix all.

I'm from Australia and are reading a lot of comments about the new SLK 350, well let me just say that things are different down here. Firstly we get the command/satnav system sandard. The 7G is also standard and it would be an option is I wanted the six speed manual. I'm not to sure about how the padals behind the steering wheel work though. But if anyone wants to see what we get as standard then log onto www.mercedes.com.au and you can compare.

Usually the Canadian Dealers get earlier and more reliable advance information than the US Dealers. It would not surprise me that the "manual" could be limited availability and not show up on these shores for some extended time. Just because the automatic is an option does not mean a whole lot in and of itself. Here in the US the Premium Package is an option too, but if you want an early production SLK350 then you have to opt for it as none of the early cars are headed this way without it. You might want to check around with some other Canadian dealers though. Let us know what you learn. (By the way the accereration figures actually favor the automatic on the SLK350 so I suspect there will be less demand overall for the manual anyway)

Could it be that the standards being offered in Canada slightly differs from the standards being offered in the US?

hahah thanks to this forum i was able to hold my ground and i got the call today the standard is coming but he told me it gonna be a lil later until i get my car....end of november 1st week dec.

the automatic that they said they were handing me if they did decide to give me only automatic was the 6 speed auto box not the 7G, the 7G is an option for the perfromance package or somthing. the 6 speed auto box was still a 1500 dollar option which really mad eme think twice like if it was a option and the base price was $64,500 then why do they only come in auto i mean shouldnt the price be 66,000...

haha thanks for the posts i don't think i would of got one manual.

I seriously wonder why they did that to me strange mercedes dealership they also wanted to overcharge me one time i brought it in for a tune up.

There is no such thing as a 6-speed auto in the SLK; what you're talking about there is the 6-speed manual, even if the dealer said auto. In other words, dealer is wrong.

LOL.... Actually 2 - 3 weeks, but they will be here before mid-Sept for sure.... And from what my friends @ Richmond MB told me, there should be a SLK55 AMG coming in in mid-late Sept as well...

Yap, just about all are pre-sold... But sometimes, there might be a few that come up for sale.... But then again, they might not be equipped the way you wanted...

How long do you have to wait for yours??
