SLK/R171: my dealer's brilliant ordering policy continued...

my dealer's brilliant ordering policy continued...
i put my deposit down for a new SLK350 very early june (like june 3rd) and i was the eighth person on the waiting list for the car then. now i get a call from my sales rep who says that i can't even place my options or colors for my ordered car until november which means i won't get my car until january, all this while telling me their first allotment of SLK's will be of about 10 customer-ordered cars by the end of october. am i missing something here? i thought we were putting in netstar orders way back when in july or august? i can't even imput my order into netstar until november, and god knows when i'll see the car. anyone getting any remotely similar experiences? this sounds absolutely ridiculous to me.

Netstar accepted orders for the SLK (350 as well as AMG55) starting in July (before that it was all on a sheet of paper at the dealership).
350 have been assigned POs for for about a month now (US), apparently they just started with the 55 (PO assigned means production dates as well).
If he says he can't put it in Netstar, he's lying. If he's out of slots for production, that means he waited or slept on it. Either way, I would want some satisfactory answers, or switch - and tell them so as well; they might change their story...

Very interesting your dealer is Penske. Check out the completed auctions on EBay and you willl see there was a listing for the "2nd" slot at Penske. The miniimum bid was $1000 just for the slot and at least last week no one bid for the slot. It may have been relisted. You could contact the seller if interested. Caution though that the seller promised September delivery but didn't even have a serial number to list for the vehicle. Obviously any cars being delivered in SEptember have already been built and would have had serial numbers weeks ago.

finally got my car ordered at rusnak. ordered it a week ago, planning to get it late november to early december. i'll get my deposit out from penske soon.
