My son's school has a Limited Edition SLK 350 up for auction!

Hello-

Forgive me for being rather ignorant about this world, but this look like the place to go for advice.

My son's preschool here in Manhattan Beach, CA has secured a Limited Edition SLK350 Launch Edition that will be up for auction at our November 20th fundraiser. The deal is that the school gets everything over the dealer's invoice for the car.

Could somebody help me out here? What's the going price for this car right now?

Check eBay, however price doesn't go up over MSRP.

My dealer had a launch edition available for $56,400 in early September. That was the list price not including sales tax.

Enclosed please find a check in the sum of $65,000.00 for the new SLK 350. You do take foreign checks don't you? By the way, my grandson's kindergarten class is having an auction for the new SLR McLaren. Can anyone help?

Wow! What's everybody's problem

I'm not NOOLIMITS, whoever that is, and I can't believe the reception I got to a simple question. I'm a father of two in Manhattan Beach CA, with one kid in kindergarten, and another in a local nursery school (it's called Sand Tots - check it out, if you want - www.sandtots.com).

Go ahead, cntlaw, and "track me down and report me". I'm happy to speak to the "authorities". I'll give them my phone number, or they can talk to the director of the preschool, or my wife, who is chairing the fundraising committee this year.

I'm not a particular fan of MB cars. I'm not actually a fan of any particular car - I'm pretty ambivalent about them, as long as they're comfortable, run well and are a good value, that's about all I care about. So I don't know anything about this new SLK, except that the parent of one of the kids in the school got this car donated for our spring silent auction, and that the school gets to keep everything over dealer invoice.

So why all the grief? Why can't I get a couple of opinions about what we should expect to sell this car for?

If my recollection serves me well, I believe the early launch SLK350 (Pewter Silver Color) MSRP is around $56K. Take 7% off that number and you'll should be close to the dealer's invoice.

One note of advise, this early launch SLK350 comes only with 6speed manual tranny.
