I have been beaten on a highway roll by a modded Supra and a stock Z06. From a dead stop, I beat that same Supra, a C5 Corvette coupe and a BMW M Coupe.

Thanks. My dealer in Hagerstown is great about fixing the things that ail that little SLK, but there seems to always be something ailing it.

I beat some hockey player guy in his Z8 at a drag event. Raced 10 times, beat him 10 times till he blew his clutch .

About 2 car lengths down the 1/4 mile.

I have an SLK32 and a Z06. I really like my SLK32, but for acceleration and handling, it can't touch my Z06. The Z06 is lighter than the SLK32 (~3100lbs vs. ~3200lbs) and it makes a lot more power (405hp vs 349hp).

I just dyno'd my bone stock Z06 and it made 363rwhp (dyno sheet). Don't SLK32s dyno around 300-305rwhp?

Actually it's only a little above average. There was a poll on z06vette.com and mine was just barely above average. Most of the 2002-2003 stock cars came in around 350-360rwhp.

Hi,

I've read a review about the Z06 and I was very impressed, the power to weight is very good, puting the Z06 almost into supercar status, but they did mention one thing, traction problems ! It could have been the tires, but it hurt the 0-60 times.

I think the 0-60 time was something like 4.5 secs., an unmodded SLK32 is right behind that.

Then again, I've read that the super powered MBs (E55s, etc) have traction problems also...

Have you done anything to your autos to improve traction, power, handling ?

The only way that I could see to improve the acceleration from a dead stop is to run a tire like a drag radial or run wider tires than stock. The Z06 uses 18x10.5 wheels from the factory with 295/35 18 GY F1 Supercar tires. The factory tires are just this side of a DOT race tire.

My SLK32 will get out of the hole easier since it's an automagic. Just floor it and go One problem I had with the SLK32 at the track was that in the heat, I could not get it to leave hard enough to do better than a 2.2 60'. It was ~95 deg and 90% humidity. It still ran a 13.2, which is pretty impressive given the conditions
