SLK32 AMG vs SL55 AMG
What are the 0-60 and 1/4 mile speeds on both cars, and is it true that the SL55, while much more expensive, is slower due to the fact that it's more of a luxury sports car than a real "pure" sports car?

Oh yeah, and plus the SLK32 is still a R170, The R230 is much larger and has much more of a presence. Even though I have one, whenever I see another R230, it's a head turner instantly, with the R170, they are just so common place here as the girls car.

Sorry about that, personally I don't think it's a girl car either, it's just the enviroment here, just like the M3. That's a fast car, but so many kids here have it it's just like a rich spoiled kids car here. ![Frown](https://mbworld.org/forums/images/smilies/frown.gif)
I love the SLK32, so fast, and it's a drop top!

how can u compare the slk to the sl, the things ur saying about the slk that u like are on the sl too. like the hard top. and $60000 more for 0.3 seconds is not why ur paying the extra $. the sl is bigger better and way more options and luxurious.

The SL55 and SLK32 are cars built for totally different purposes. The SL55 is undoubtedly faster than the SLK32. Considerably faster. Forget about 0-60 (the SL55 time is more like 4.4 and the SLK32 is, on the the good side 4.6) regardless the SL55's engine is absolutely incredible. So much torque you can't even believe it. The SLK32 is built to be light, nimble and quick and it is just damn. It is damn quick, but the power advantage of the SL55 is huge. The SL55 weighs in at almost 4400 lbs. roughly 1200 more than the SLK32 - makes for a huge difference in the way the car drives.
SL55 SLK32
Round Time Nuerburgring 8.12 min 8.26 min
Round Time Hockenheim 1.18,4 min 1.18,5 min
Those times show it all, the SLK32 is much more nimble thus it can keep up with the SL55 at Hockenheim even though the SL has much more grunt while at the Nurburgring, the SL55 pulls on the SLK32 enormously because of its astonishing torque.
Overall, they are very different cars and they are both a BLAST!

2004 SL55 AMG
I've seen consistent 4.39-4.4s for the SL55. The SLK32 is more like 4.8s. 0.4secs is a huge difference when you're talking about the 4secs range 0-60MPH. let alone the 6 sec range.
What are the quarter mile times of the SLK32 offhand? I expect a even larger difference at those speeds.

MBWorld Fanatic!
In cooler weather, expect 12.50@116 out of an SL55 and 12.90@110 out of an SLK32.
I have a video of C&D testing the SLK32. They got a 0-60 of 4.5 seconds and 1/4 mile of 13.0@110 - 10mb video

2000 Chevy Impala LS
got this from a salesman for benz
salesman told t me that SLK 32 AMG did 4.8 in 60 secs and it said in the SLK class book, and so far online i have 3 different reports say the SLK 55 AMG does the same 4.8 in 60 secs. the big difference to me is the two more shifts in Automatic and first V8 roadster benz had made, plus the advanced heated seats and the 2 seconds faster retractable hardtop.
