BMW 545i, SLK55 AMG (on order)
SLK55 taken off MBUSA.com??
Well.. to start off: Amidst all the talk of SLK55 production being haulted, I decided it'd be best for me to start contacting a dealer about buying one now, just in case it'd be too late in another 3 or 4 months; last time I spoke to the salesman (saleswoman, actually) that I've been in touch with, last week, I mentioned to her that I'd heard MB was discontinuing SLK55 AMG production. She said she'd never heard of anything like that, put me on hold for 4 or 5 minutes to check with some other people at the dealership, and when she came back she still told me that no one's gotten anything from MB saying that. I was going to call her again tomorrow to schedule a meeting so we could start getting it built as soon as possible, but I just checked MBUSA.com and the first thing I noticed was that the vehicles were being categorized differently in the Models section - second thing I noticed was that the only SLK featured on the website is the SLK350. I used the website's search to check for "SLK55", and I can still get to the "old" SLK55 section, but there is no way to get to it on the USA site.
I also took a look at a couple other countries' Mercedes-Benz websites and the only SLK I could find on any of them was the 350.
Does this mean what I'm hoping it doesn't? I don't want to get my hopes up and start designing my '55 with the dealer unless I'm sure it's actually going to happen...

Hmmm, if it turns out the '55 is a one year car to be replaced by the SLK 63, I wonder what that does for the resale value of my '55.

I looked again, NONE of the AMG models for ANY class are listed on that menu. I don't think there's an issue.

Ah, Shark, you're right - I didn't even notice that. The SLK55 is in the SLK-Class overview page, too. Maybe they just haven't added the AMG-Classes to the Models menu yet, then?
I feel so much better now. Sorry for the false alarm.

I've been following the discussions here on the '63, and it sounds like it's a least a couple of years off...don't know how good our intelligence is...anyone hear anymore about the SLK63?

SLK 55 AMG
I thought this was interesting from the mbusa site. Even MB doesn't know how much HP the SLK 55 has:
Serious rush. With more than 360 horsepower pumping from its V-8 engine and a 7-speed automatic transmission, this roadster provides serious sports car thrills in true AMG style.
AMG-built 5.5L SOHC 24-valve V8 engine - 355 hp @ 5,750 rpm
