Video: 1/4 Mile Last Night *Updated*

Took the car to the track last night to see how the Kleemann ECU did. Made two little mistakes: Pressed the "+" on the steering wheel too soon twice! From 3rd - 4th & 4th - 5th, both at around 5700 RPM.

You should have gone again & left the shifting to the SLK . DUDE, head back to the track & give 'er a' go again. You should be picking up a tenth or two w/your mods (despite the high temp & humidity).

See ya,

I did 3 runs last night. Above being the 2nd. The 3rd was a LOT of spinning and ended up with 13.1

I'm waiting for my HRE's to come in (2 more weeks) and then I will go back again. Hopefully I'll find time to get the Evosport Underdrive Pulleys on too!

Hey, at least you took the trouble to go track it . I'm just yanking your chain. It appears you just need some more traction. For what its worth, a local speed shop obtained .5 sec quicker 0-60 time on an AMG CLS with Kleeman's LSD install alone. It might be a something for you to look at later.

Pls keep us posted (literally) once you get your new rims/tires. What did you get (aspect ratio?). Thanks.

Kleemann Headers & LSD are on my list.. maybe even Cams but that will not be any time soon.

The HRE's are C21 Competition Series - 19" 8.5 front 9.5 rear with Pirelli Rosso's. 235/35 265/30
Once this set is gone I will roll the fenders and put some 245 in the front along with 285 in the rear. :v

What can we look forward to in your Stage 2 SLK?

Dinko, HRE's are nice rims! I tried to look up the C21 Comp series on this web site but I can't find it? Maybe you have another site that shows what they look like? http://www.hrewheels.com/Wheels/

A 265 rear width should be enough tire for your power level when coupled with the LSD (until you get cams :v ).

See you!

This is what it looks it, the one in the middle.

Dinko, good taste in wheels, hope you'll get better results next time.

Too many to list
Times in the quarter mile are pretty useless for comparing power from engine mods. However, power is very consistent with trap speeds.

So if you ran 109.75 mph before and now 107.52, you put down less power. Whether that is due to the weather or short shifter, it's tough to know.

My son has a 93 RX7 which I always thought was pretty quick, but not that quick. What mods were running on the RX7 if any, do you know?

I have LSD and sometimes i still don't get traction. But you're correct it does help.

Stock they run mid 13s. Mine runs mid elevens with stock twins. Upgraded twins up you to 425 RWHP. A single turbo can push over 500 RWHP. 3rd gen RX-7s are pretty quick due to low weight (mine is 2,700 lbs).

Jam, an LSD will help but when you put down the numbers your E55 does, you will still roll 'em (even with a wide footprint - you really need DRs, but hey, I think Dinko's just aiming for a good run). .

See ya,

Matt,

Agree! Next testing would be a set of DR's and see if i can hook them better.

dinko, I don't know anything about running at the track, so this is a serious question. Why would you do "manual" upshifts versus letting the auto do the shift?

Put it in manual, and then let the computer shift for you. It'll turn out the best times.

ricky, the manual says (or implies) NOT to do exactly that. Under the section on selecting Manual for the shift, it has a warning that you can damage the engine, if you overrev the engine.

So I'm confused. Are you saying put in manual, stomp it and the computer will shift at redline each time? Also, why is this better than putting in Sport and stomping it?

You misunderstood me. I just so happened to press it twice, one after another, on both shifts. I know better than to drive it in Manual on a track

P.S. Rather Off-Topic, but I have another little something coming up this Monday. Stay tuned, it will be something to check out for everyone

The manual probably also says not to race.
