SLK 55 AMG
A friend has a Coupé GT, and it's a neat car. 4 seats, CF hood, Tubi exhaust, very fast.

But not vario roof. It's just not a roadster.

Basically a Ferrari, and your service costs with one reflect it. The SLK would probably end up the cheaper car.

The Maserati also depreciates very quickly and by a great deal. I'd personally go all the way and get a Ferrari rather then a Maser.

The Gransport is fairly different from the coupe GT. It has a 4.2L Ferrari V8, weighs about 3700lbs, and if you can get one with the cambiocorsa F1-style gearbox and the Skyhook suspension they're a somewhat impressive car. the interiors in the new Maseratis are very well done, although the Gransport uses a high-tech, shiny fabric as an accent in the interior for two-tone that you'll either love or hate -- and the color of it is important. They are a 2+2 with no convertible option. Performance-wise it is fairly comparable to the SLK55, but it's a coupe not a roadster, and there is a difference there.
Me? I'd stick with the SLK55. You? You may want to take a look at and a drive in a Gransport (especially if you're a Ferrari fan).

looked and test drove the gransport before buying the slk55

I looked at the Gransport and while I loved the looks of the car and definitely the interior ... the transmission was something that I hated. I personally feel that it wasn't smooth at all. That was a deal breaker for me.

Good point. They may have updated the cambiocorsa transmission - check maserati.net (or something like that) for their forum (like this one) on stuff like that.....

Humm, perhaps the shifts were too jerky for you. You might of left it in sports mode where it shifts 50% quicker than the 360
The GS are also holding their values pretty strong compared to the rest but they still are a relative steal at 87-95K.
Maserati has updated the CC in the coupes/verts but the GS CC Program is totally different, most people have taken care of this "problem" with EuroTeks ECU which also gives another 85ft/lbs.

Tried regular and sports mode

I tried both ... I test drove the car about 2 months ago here in the bay area.

I didn't mind the jerkiness in Sport but in comfort mode it was quite annoying.

I do have to say that I LOVED the sound of this car, especially with sports mode on.
