2006 SLK55 AMG/// 2006 Porsche CaymanS 2010 135i
New to the SLK55 (soon)
To all I wanted to say hello, I've been hanging around "upstairs" on the C32/C55 forum. My first AMG, 2002 C32 sold for 2005 C55...I just came to an agreement with my dealer for a 2006 SLK55. The car is being shipped to Chicago so I expect delivery next week, hoppefully I'll have posession next Saturday.....
Car I am buying:
SLK55 Black / Black Nappa Leather
Lighting Pkg
Premuim Pkg
Air scarf
Entertainment Pkg/NAV
Pre wiring for the Ipod intergration kit
6 disc cd changer
I looked/test drove the CaymanS and decided to stick with AMG. After seeing what's been going on with the cars in this forum I cannot wait to get the car.
Now all I have to do is wait

congratulations. Have driven the cayman S and have to say it is very good...... but for everyday road use, it just dosent get me as excited as the 55. You are going to enjoy this car a lot.
did you trade your c55 for this car or are you going to have both?

I agree the CaymanS was a great ride, but the SLK55 is a totally different animal.
I'm trading the C55.

Congrats on the new car. I have owned many sports cars over the years and this one is without a doubt, the most fun to drive. The exhaust note on this car is incredible. You won't be disappointed!

Caution: This car will consume you. It's addictive to drive, addictive to look at. Even when you're not near it, you'll spend your time on forums. Warn your friends and family now.

I understand the addiction aspect, my "just for fun" test drive turned into a "how fast can you have one ready for me to take home"
Luckily the whole process is only going to take two weeks from test drive to delivery.
I've learned some great things about the R171 reading this forum and I hope I'll be able to give some back as well..... for now it's tic-toc-tic-toc....

Just got my confirmation the car will be mine on Saturday!!!
I'm having the dealer swap out my low mileage Goodyear GSD3's from my C55 for the stock P-Zero Rossos, I'm not a big fan of the stock tires.
I also have a short antenna ordered to replace the "fishing pole".
I'm sure I'll have a wish list of mods very soon, but for now the stock set-up will be just fine. Luckily my dealer is also a Kleemann installer, so if I decide to have any engine work done they'll be familair with the car.

I test-drove the Cayman S this past weekend. The handling is very good, I think it handles even better than a 996. It is an awesome "track" car. BUT, I think it would be too slow compare to a SLK55. You should love the 55. Good choice!!!

Get some miles on her, and learn to appreciate what she does and doesn't do, before modding her. I almost always wait before i mod.
