hmmm... should probably pass by the dealer and ask to see the parts for the steering wheel. Perhaps the plastic shifter buttons can be ordered separately without the steering wheel (although knowing MB, it's probably gonna be one big piece).

still doesn't solve the main problem with the existing paddles - they're on the wheel, rather than the colum, so they move as the wheel turns. I want rea F1 -style paddles that are attached to the column.

True... but I sure would like paddles instead of buttons even if they're on the wheel!
Count me in! Hopefully, someone here finds out soon.

that will be a nice upgrade , and it will be better if we upgrade the trasmission software for faster downshifting and upshifting...

Paddles Smaddles...whether on the wheel or column in a car without the tight turnign radius of an F1 it is a hinderance...try driving the canyons and being in a TIGHT turn...either way it is awkward(if on the wheel it is an awkward angle and if on the column you just cant reach).

I just use the gear shift and quickly hit it...not as awkward as reaching for buttons/paddles.

just my $.02
