How to run 11's?

I would love to run high 11's in the SLK55 AMG... i'm seriously considering this car or an E55 AMG... I would really love the speed of the E55 in the SLK 55 without putting the blower on it... I've heard times of 12.5 so it doesn't seem to far away.. I know this may sound bad but does anybody make a nitrous kit for this car that could be pretty safe that I could use occasionally to get into the 11's?? Any other ideas?? thanks in advance guys

...............first of all going from 12.5sec to high 11's on the 1/4 mile is huge. greater than 0.5 sec improvement in 1/4 mile is quite monumental, so it is indeed far away, contrary to your post. Doing it without a blower and without nitrous is probably out of the question. It is possible with nitrous and to use nitrous the best person to talk to is DerekFSU.

NA, so how are you going to do that? Even if the 6.2L (SL63) was offered in the SL it would probably not run in the 11's because of the lower power rating than the twin turbo 6.0L (65). Schiznick is correct because I saw his SL65 run 11's all day long. It was my first time ever drag racing and the best I could do was 13.39 in a over weight stock SLK55.

Red face =/

the reason for you wanting an SLK is not for it to run 11's ... which is impossible without a blower. If you are that crazy about 1/4 miles, get a rice cooker, strip it down to 1000 lbs and turbocharge it :o

the reason for you to choose an SLK is because it is one of the hottest looking cars out there as well as it being a really fast car - most of us forget how fast this car actually is b/c we are all spoiled and compare it to SL65s etc i haven't yet seen a car on the road that could beat me in my SLK55, i've seen ONE SL55, that's it.

If you want ridiculous torque/power get a V12 biturbo AMG ! if you get an E55, it already being supercharged, you can easily get more HPs out of it, same with the 65s. C55, CLK55 and SLK55 are the most expensive ones to mod because of the N/A engine =D

my buddy just traded in his C55 for an '04 C32 and will be at 435 HP and 4xx TQ by just spending $2,900.

Wow I didn't realize the response I would get.. I don't mean to insult people.. I love the SLK 55 I just want more speed... Yes I am a speed freak but i'm not about to go buy a car strip it down and make it go... I agree that we are spoiled with the SL65... I'm a little worried about the quarter mile number somebody posted of 13.39 in the SLK55.. I really thought that this car was 12 second one???

If we could just switch topics I guess then I'm asking how could i safely put nitrous on the SLK55 and does anybody make a kit for it??? Has anyone done this safely??

thanks, lets all chill =) I do love the SLK55 I just love speed too...

oh don't get me wrong
i was getting mad at you or anything =D i'd love to make my slk55 faster but it's just not worth all the money. The blower is $12,000 etc...

all i was trying to say was that if you have the money to buy an E55, get a blower for tha tmoney from kleemann. The car will run high 11s. Don't put nitrous is there :-/ i personally would never put nitrous in such a nice car !

if you have the money, buy an SLK55 and s/c it. that thing will fly

Stock SLK55s have been timed (at the track) both on & off this forum at 12.7 trapping 111 mph. Some people are better running their cars at the track than others (have better reaction times, heat the tires correctly, get a good rollout, turn off ESP, weigh 150 lbs vs 250 lbs, are at sea level with low temps, etc, etc). A 12.7 quarter is basicly the same acceleration as a 6 Spd manual C6 Corvette - very sprite.

See ya,
-Matt

I think it's quite possible to score a VERY high 11 sec 1/4 mile. You'd need the following:

Kleemann: ECU, Headers, Cams, LSD, Sport Cats
Renntech: CF Airbox
Evosport: Underdrive pulleys

If anything, you'll score a 12.2 with all that!

edit: Also, if you stuck some slicks, 11's are even more likely.

Not to forget a pair of Green Filters from Euroteckmotorsports.com ! Good for 2 - 5 hp!

I would say a minimum of 80 horsepower... all the way up to 95. Simply calculating what the companies say.

I am going to Do Ecu, Pulleys and filters for sure!

The other stuff i cant because our Kleemann dealer for my region is in another country" Bahrain " and i am not willing to travel to get them done

I was trying to convince the person to sell me the parts he swears that its their policy to install their parts because theyve got Trained People! etc

I have the R170 SLK and have HEAVILY modded it as well. I should be getting the car back Thursday or Friday this week. We are expecting to be running in the high 11's. No one has heard of an R170 breaking into the 11's so I just might be the first to do it.

Now on to the question:

At my shop they just got done doing a FULL Kleemann SLK55. After the mods they went down to the track and noone would even look at the car.

Until.........

He ran 11.7 sec 1/4.

C2Design is the company in Tampa, FL.

When my car is done and I get some "wear in" time we will be taking a few of our cars down to Bradenton and running in a group.

When that night happens we might see a R171 and a R170 run against eachother and BOTH end up in the high 11's.

I can't wait to get my car back.

Here are some pictures!!

Thanks for all the input.. I am looking into a supercharger for it.. but i'm wondering what the warranty will be like and stuff... I live in chicago so if I had renntech or whatever install it in FL how am I going to get the thing fixed if anything happens?? Also how are mercedes dealers about doing stuff to the car?? I had a z06 and most didn't care for a modded car... there was one dealer that was cool about it and I stuck with them...

The guy who had his SLK55 done from my shop was or lives in Miami and he had a problem.....well they flew down to Miami to fix the problem.

All of his mods were from Kleemann. I he dyno'd around 462 hp at the wheels and his main problem at the track was hooking up and he was running drag radials.

Go with the Kleemann, just send it to them to make sure you get a perfect installation. I've had the supercharger for 4 years, if you have any questions contact me.

Do they offer changed gearing for the SLK? I don't think so...

But what some others mentioned here, should be ok.

If you have a LOAD of cash, you can stay NA, and still get close to 500hp if you invest in Brabus. They will bore out a larger engine for you. But as I said, it is horribly expensive. With drag radials and an LSD, it just might trap in the 11's.

If you want to go fast, start using the car as it was meant to be used.........as a sports car. In other words......mountain roads or road course race tracks. Then, if you really want to go fast, take a driver's school and learn how to drive the car/
