I did read your posts... seems like we're just posting at the same time.

Again, I repeat: don't be offended. My goal was not to remove signs of the 197mph entirely in 10x zoom, so I didn't bother with a clean Photoshop job.

That much should be obvious.. your original post is in the same thread, so obviously mine was Photoshop'd!

I'm typing this on the FLY. Also I do not doubt that the car was not going 197. I'm just saying that what the speedo showed.

Alrighty then.

Good for you.

I have never gone that fast myself.

Would love to get into racing school in the near future, and find out what it's like to go 200 MPH.

Will post pics of my speedometer then, and you can get back at me then...

unfortunately, i don't have any pics i can post right now.

my 2004 c230 was wrecked.

my other car is a 2001 Pontiac Grand Am SE

I test drove an SLK55 AMG, but didn't buy it yet, as I am going to buy my second home by end of summer, so I hope to have new pics this Fall.

And I also plan on getting a 2008 C-class late next year.

TommyGunn, you did NOT respond to the obvious. What happened to the bright white MPH or KPH indicator in the middle of the dial.

There is not even a faint image there. You wiped it out in post.

At best you were in KPH mode (hence the reason for the picture edit).

You were going 123mph.

We're not going to by that you had a rental SLK55 AMG, that somehow happened to have the limiter removed AND that somehow this was the one of the speedometers that was at the full limit of inaccuracy (your quoted 15%), etc., etc.

Post a camera video showing the speed needle climb and the MPH indicator or better yet, shoot the Digital Speed reading in the MFD as that one would be much harder to photochop.

End of story.

blofin...don't forget about just happening to get a rental or loaner with an octane booster, just happening to find a vacant airstrip, endangering the life of a loved one (maybe not since she was in the car) and bragging about racing in a C-class. Okay, and O.J. didn't even know anything about it, Clinton didn't inhale, and pigs do fly.

as for the limiter it was there. no mods to the car. It belonged to the dealer, also how do i get ANOTHER slk 55 amg LOANER. I can only do that if my car breaks down, they run outa C240 loaners and theres an extra SLk 55 demo car around. Highly unlikely. As for the BRITE mph khm. No idea what happened to it. I have NO photo shop skills. The pic is sent directly from her fone.

P.S. where the hell does it say "racing a c class"

Hey man, I'm just making it up as I go...kinda like you...

take it easy we are only joking with you. If you went 300 mph, it's your life and your gas. Have fun with it.

Food for thought, if you want us to believe that pigs can fly, at least take a good picture from the grassy knoll.

You manage to describe JFk's death and a flying pig in one sentence, hell has officially froze over.

i had a car that would allow you to change from MPH to KHM with the touch of a button. one time i blew past 200 and thought my passenger was going to sh*t. i never told him what was really going on. oh, i also did 100 in a 55mph and he couldnt believe how safe it felt! this guy was/is NOT a car guy, but still is a tree hugger!

im sure my story is the case with this particular situation.

Who cares about this. Any nugget can go fast. I had 185 on my stock honda motorbike on the street, doesn't mean I can ride just means I'm a little stupid. Important thing is speeds between 0-120 and turning at speed and braking. Check out some video at TWS in Texas. 145mph turning into the corner.. Thats fun. if you want to work out to speed of the car it can be done by calculating the gearing.

I will stand by all my posts. The fact of the matter is that i pushed a car beyond the limits and you can't. It angers me about this. The pasanger was my gf who weighs 110 pounds and i weighed about 165 at the time. The spare tire was removed. the top was up. I enjoy the secptism. I would be one to, but there is a point that reaches narrow mindedness. I know how to push a car. I have a W210 96 E320 and I managed to push it to 160, along with smoking a m3. I dont care what you guys might think. Besides what do i have to prove by doing 200? It goes to show that i was an idiot risking 2 lives and a benz.

Funny thing is for a "real photo" is that the "MPH" in the middle of all SLK55 speedos is missing......nice try....anyone who cuts this image off of the web site and zooms in can see the paste.......

I'll give you credit for this, at least you brought some life to this forum...

Ha Ha. Good catch. This is a total BS story, but it was fun watching it develop.

Funny thing is I just did the calc base on ;

Tire width 245
Aspect ratio 35
Rim Dia 18
Trans gear ratio 7th gear 0.73:1
final drive ratio 3.06:1

in theory.

top speed at 6000 rpm is 197Mph.

But in the real world in 5th gear you'd reach 156.42mph at 6500rpm.

Guess thats why top gear is a waste of time and 5th gear is the best.. VBH show us *$#%
