Woohooo!!! just got my SLK55

Man, this car is fun!

Was anyone able to follow the manuals break in procedure? (under 85, less than 5000 rpms or something). I didn't have the self control for that....

Also, i've searched about regarding lowering the car....i was wondering...what about cutting a coil and using a thicker spring pad? Stiffer ride, slightly lower ride, right? works for old school cars, would it work for the SLK55?

Congrats! What color is that? Hard to tell from the cellphone pic. It's either Iridium, Pewter, or Grey, I think.

I just got confirmation my '07 order went into production, woohoo!

It's pewter.

Third choice colour actually, but i'm starting to like it...i really wanted a graphite or obsidian black SLK, but i just wasn't willing to wait, and the designo is way too overpriced, IMO.
congrats on your SLK55 too!

Thanks! BTW, how do you think of the Cayenne?

family member comparing range rover sport, cayenne (non-S), and Toureg....is the regular cayenne worth the premium?

Yes, The Cayenne feels diffrent in terms of driving compared to the touareg, but the touareg has a rich interior compared to the sporty cayenne, Please dont go towards the Range Sport, You will enjoy it for a year or two and then comes the failure in airsuspension and other things tend to breakdown

Congratulations on your new SLK and welcome to the forum.

Pewter is a good color on the SLK and was my second choice after the Silver.

Definately post some pics and let us know how you are enjoying the car.

Congrats and welcome to the forum.

Going with what alroumi said, Rovers break down all the time....the interior on the sport is quite cheap as well.

Are you in the market for a sporty SUV or a luxobarge on stilts?..... once you make that determination, your choices can be narrowed down easily.

Looks like you are looking for something sporty.... (cayenne, touareg, RR sport).

Having the SLK55, I wanted a more insulating luxo hauler with AWD, a S550 4-matic was my first choice (I had no patience to wait).... So I got a GL450 Premiere edition for now.

Congrats. I'm looking forward to seeing my first pewter in person. I bet it looks great.

If you can, take off the front plate. It'll make the front end look so much better.

Thanks guys!

I didn't want the front plate, but my local dealer installs the brackets as soon as the cars hit the lots now, some idiot tried to sue the dealer after getting a ticket for no-front plate a couple years back.

RE the SUV, my girlfriend drives a z4, but she needs 5 seats at the minimum, and some storage space now. I'd push a wagon actually, but she wants an SUV. it definatly has to handle well, and it would be nice if it was fast. i would say the range rover sport is on the high end of her budget, so i'll tell her to stick with the cayenne then.

Congrats on the new car.

I remember those first few days....
-opening the garage door just to take a peek.
-actually finding enjoyment reading a manual.
-just sitting inside the car, taking it in. Ahhhh.

Enjoy it.

Yes, I've had my car for 8-9 months now and I still take a peak in the garage, read the manual, and sit in the car listening to music whenever I can.
