2007 SLK55 Details
Just got confirmation from my dealer on the status of an '07 SLK55 order. It's B5 in Netstar, meaning it's waiting for a boat to the US and will likely be here in about 30 days or so. He said production was delayed due to AMG going on vacation.
Here's a little price preview info:
Base: $62500
Metallic Paint: $700
Premium III: $2600
(std. cell phone prewiring, DVD COMAND nav, H/K stereo)
Lighting: $1000
Airscarf: $370
6-CD Changer: $440
Total MSRP (with dest, gg tax): $69685
Don't know the price of 030 PerfPkg because I didn't order it.
SIRIUS satradio appears to be standard equipment now.

I'm getting excited, now. I don't go to pick mine up in Germany until October, but I can't wait to find out any changes. My dealer is supposed to receive their's soon. It is currently on a boat over here, but no one knows the options prices or about the shift paddles definitively.

Hi All,
I'm in the process of getting a SLK55 in the UK and asked this question to Mercedes AMG back in June. This was there response.
"we`re introducing the paddles ( + a modified instrument cluster) with the MY ´07 which has started this month. "
Hope this helps.

Go check out the R171 forum on benzworld.org. There's a UK'er who just got his '07 SLK350 and he posted pictures of the paddles.
Crap, I just realized that I think my car is coming with manual climate control rather than digital automatic. Looks like they removed it from the Premium package and made it standalone. I thought when I ordered Premium I would be getting it, since it is part of the 06 Premium package. Oh well, that's probably the one option I can live without. But it does look cooler than the manual knobs.
I hadn't heard there would be a new instrument cluster, I'll be interested to see what that looks like.
Trussmark, your dealer should absolutely be able to get pricing information and details on all the options right now in Netstar. If they can't, there's something serious wrong with them. Since your car likely hasn't gone into production yet, I would really go in and make sure you definitely have all the options you want, because there are some pretty significant options packaging changes from 06 to 07.

Got pricing today based on SLK 55 on order for delivery this Monday, 7/31. Matches what has previously been stated on the forum. Also noted shift paddles on SLK 280 with AMG package that arrived today. They are different than what comes on the SLK 55. It is assumed that the SLK 55 paddles will be similar to the Sl 55 paddles. Also noticed that the AMG package on 280 & 350 makes them look very similar to SLK 55. Front airdam is the same with fog lights and rear spoiler. Remove the emblems and add two pipes and you're close to looking like the 55.

Delivery this Monday? Lucky man!!! Mine's still in Germany.
I would be very surprised if the AMG sport pkg for the non-AMG models gained the brake vents. Spoiler I can see. But I doubt they would make the front fascia look identical to the true AMG.
That said, the AMG sport pkg for the non-AMG models is a huge improvement over standard.

Front spoiler is the same, fog lights, too, without the brake vents. Other than that, if the owner of a 280 or 350 removes the badges, it will look like a 55. But it won't have the wheels or the quad exhaust. Oh yeah, it also won't have 355 horses!

So it's not the same. The AMG-sportpack fascia does not have the SLK55 brake vents. If you look carefully, you'll also notice the sculpting is different. The SLK55 fascia has squared off edges around the fog lights, while the AMG-sportpack fascia for the other models has the more traditional pulled-back angular edges.
Take a look at this:
http://www.mbusa.com/byo/pop_opt_pac...p&model=SLK350
If the front fascia you saw on the sport-pack was any different from this, that would be news. Otherwise what you saw is just the same sport-pack as has been available since the R171 launch.
Other visual differences worth mentioning are that the SLK55 suspension is lower than the 280/350 w/AMG sportpack, the SLK55 has hood vent strakes, and the SLK55 has black nose fins rather than body-colored.

Am I missing something... why would you but an inferior car and make it look like something better? Surely you would get caught out and look like an ****?
Looks aren’t everything.

Beyond that, please refer to the many hundreds of threads I'm sure exist now on these forums regarding deceptive badging/bodywork.
