SLK 55 AMG
It doesn't make a HUGE difference IMO. The sound does improve a bit, so does throttle respone. But HP gains from filters is NOT as big as you might expect. Anyone who says otherwise for the SLK is talking bull.
I've got the K&N's, and I experience the following:
A little better throttle responce.
A little more noise at intake.
A nice little burble from the rear when you release the acceleration pedal at around 3000rpm.
HP gains are almost zero. Possible 2 or 3hp.
I do NOT feel them in any significant way.
The engine simply isn't built to benefit that much.
There's two tubes brining in air to the engine as well as two filters. Many cars developing just as much HP might only have one filter and one tube to feed it air. So in all honestly, in MY opinion, the filters will not improve much. They will free some more air to the engine, but the MAF/MAS on the SLK will most likely just change ignition to keep it at around 360hp.

Upon starting the engine, you don';t notice any diferences. BUT, once you start hitting the throtle, it gets LOUD. Lots of rumbling, imagine the sound you hear after starting the engine on a cold morning, except you hear it all the time while driving, expecially in lower gears.

BMC filters
just ordered the BMC filters ... I got confirmation that they do have the right size for the SLK55.
"I confirm you that the Mercedes SLK 55 AMG (R171 model, 360/400 hp, >04) fit the same filters of the CLK 55 AMG (C209 model, 367hp, >02). The original dimensions are: 355x134mm and our filter code is FB262/01 (2pcs). The CLK 55 AMG (C208 model, '99-'02) has different filters."
Once I get them I'll give some insight.
