32K miles later
Hello everyone!
Previously owned a 99 Porsche Boxster. Bought my silver/black SLK55 back in March of 2005. 32K miles later, 3 set of tires, and a few check engine lights, I still love this car. A rare unique car that demands attention anywhere it goes. I absolutely love the airscarf and heated seats in this crazy weather in DFW.
I don't think I could ever go back to a normal Mercedes. It's AMG or bust for me.
Cheers to all and enjoy your rides!

Tires
Yes this is my main car for now. Looking for a small pickup truck as we speak. I tend to have a lead foot with this car.
Shingami,
What tires did you use? You should be about due for a new set soon right? I just changed mine.

SLK 55 AMG
I have the standard PZero's on my car. I guess the reason why I don't wear them out much, is since I keep them pretty inflated and I drive most of my time on the highway, so not much burn outs. I did however change my rears when they were preeeeetty flat. The front's are resisting very well however.
btw: for statistics sake, my onboard computer gives me the following info:
Average speed: 49kph
Average gas coonsumption: 13.3 litres per 100km's
Number of hours driven: ~900hours
What is your average speed and gas consumption? If it's very different, then it could mean that you're definitely driving in a more agressive manner then me, and this would wear our the tires much quicker.

Hey Vincent, long time, no talk! My car now has 25K miles. Still love the car, but I've had my share of problems with it...check engine light (emission control pump related), transmission control module (twice), command system turning off in hot weather (they added a cooling fan to the audio gateway, which think is MB speak for the pre-amp), 3 broken fog lamps (finally installed plastic covers) satellite radio antenna replaced (still not happy with the reception, I suspect it would be better if the antenna were on the roof, and of course on this car it can't be), gearshift lever replaced (could not manually downshift), driver's door audio system speaker (blown). I had to replace the rear tires at about 15K miles (bought the OE Pirellis) and then both front tires due to pothole damage. I bought Michelin PS2's for the front, and they seem just as grippy as the Pirellis, but the ride quality is SUBSTANTIALLY better, much less jarring versus the Pirellis with no apparent tradeoff in handling. Actually I was rather amazed at the difference, and when the rears need replacement again, I'm going to try a pair of PS2's back there, too. Glad to hear you still love the car and hope all is well, Phil.
