Bought a Boxster S after thinking about SLk 55

I test drove both cars and finally picked a Box S over SLk 55

For my needs such as handling, steering feel, Manual Gbox and ride quality at low speeds made me choose box S

I still like SLK 55 but cant afford both of them

Congrats, Is it a 2007 cause now you benefit from a 3.4l CaymanS or 996 C2 engine pre facelift which has 296hp and does 0-62mph in 5.5-.6 secs.

As much as I love MB, I would have gone with the Boxster too...actually I would have talked myself into a 997

I can't believe that boxster and cayman now share identical engines. This just goes further to prove what a huge rip-off cayman is! The pricing on that thing makes absolutely no logical sense, I can't believe some people still buy that thing!

P.S. You might regret your decision if an SLK55 ever challanges you on the road

Roads in the US are always straight. Why else do you think American cars have bad handling?

There are a few good roads in the US, especially in California, but nothing like Europe. Here in Miami, every single road is either parallel or perpendicular to every other road, so the only turns we have are 90 degrees

On track, Boxster is definitely faster and more fun to drive than SLK55, no question about it. However, as a street car on typical US roads, I still think the nod goes to SLK55. I have driven the new Boxster, as well as the SLK55, and the lack or low-end torque in the Boxster really put me off. I think the Boxster (or cayman) would be perfect with a 3.8L or maybe even an aftermarket supercharger....

SLK55 AMG, I chose a 2007 Black on black boxster S with Sport Chrono, Xenons,Aluminium finish rear center, bose audio. Auto climate and Sports Chrono

It has been 10 yrs ago that I had a manual car. The Box S manual is one of the best I tried IMHO( rev matching is fun . After 2 K mile breakin I can now rev the car all the way to 7k and the rush in acceleration is amazing.

The way I look at it is , this is one of the cars I ever had that makes me want to get in the car and just keep driving because it is so much fun and satisfying on straight and curvy roads. I had a auto 350 Z, C55 Amg, M3 SMG and 3 series bmw's before
