for slk55...
is this piggy back unit? or ecu-shipped one?

if it is ecu-shipped version, how long does it take to get it back?

and most important, how much does it cost?

This is not a piggy back version but rather a complete ECU reflash, ie you will send in your ECU. Turn around time depends on what shipping method you choose to send out to us but once we receive the kit, we tune it that day and send it out via overnight. Turn around time is usually 1-2 days max.

If you are Southern California local you can drive up and have it flashed on the spot. We even include a free dyno

We are offering $100 off the SLK software for $899, down from $999 retail.

But, what if i have some mods done to the car, such as Green filter, and X-pipe!?

You will gain 3hp more with the drop in filters and I have the same setup with a Flashed Ecu, My Xpipes are on the way from SuperSprint.

That's not a problem, we will take that into account when coding your ECU!

Good question on warranty. Me personally, should you have a failure to the engine or trans and the sw is found I bet Merc could void it easy. (Just like any mods its a owner risk). Probably need to verify with the company whether its valid or not? (Just like some SuperCharger companies that offer stuff for GM cars also say "does not void warranty")

MB cannot void your warranty because of any modification unless they can attribute a problem directly to a said aftermarket part. Check out the Magnusson Moss Warranty act, it protects you, the consumer, against dealers.

Furthermore, Speed Innovation goes to great lengths to ensure that all tuning is done well within the safety specs of the vehicle. If this means 1-2 HP less gain, then that is the sacrifice we are willing to take to ensure a long lasting engine.

Locate the ECU (from an R230 but same position):

Its about 6 inches wide and 10 inches long the cover is. To open move the sliders to the unlock position lift a cover you will find a computer with 5 plugs its silver in color

It will say bosch 0261 xxx xxx that's the ecu. To get to it easier, most people turn on their windshield wipers halfway (so that the end of the arm isn't in the way of untorxing the ECU box. From there, open the box, unhook the ECU from it's connections.

Well I just got back from Speed Innovation and I am EXTREMELY impressed to say the least. We did dyno runs BEFORE and AFTER the install. I should mention that my car is a 2001 325i Steptronic with a GruppeM intake which yielded ~5HP at the crank.

On to the more important information. This was dyno'd using a Dynapak dyno system, I have provided pictures as well as video links to show you how it was setup. Multiple runs were done for baseline and after and only after we received consistent gains did we save the info as pictured below.

My car was tuned with the standard 325 software that will go into all M54 325's. Software is also available for ALL E46's, M54 and M56 engines. That's right, they have software with similar gains for you M56 folk. In any case, the dynos speak for themselves. Realize this is WHEEL HP and estimated crank is about a 15HP gain and over 20TQ gain.

My impressions of the car after...well the car pulls MUCH more in the lower end where it needed it. In every gear, the car is much stronger throughout the rev band. As you can see, the software is not peaky at all, it maintain's the linearity of the Inline 6 that BMW is so famous for. Please feel free to take a look and let us know what you think!

Pictures of the dyno as well as the dyno itself are below, videos are to follow!

Enjoy!

Just passing along a cool video and dyno of the latest Speed Innovation creation, a Ferrari 355.

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=5r27J8paCzE

This was performed on a DYNOJET system and the top run file is stock. Several run files appear as Speed Innovation tuned, dyno'd, tuned some more, dyno'd etc...until reaching the final run file.

Enjoy!
