Underdrive pulleys
considered it but not sure of a definate gain, but will try later on somewhere around november or december just to save up for some other mods in a same batch.
I think the pullies might be a great match with the green filters and sprint booster.

Hmmm. I heard the oppoiste than on FI cars they're not worth it and even not recommended due to other issues but on N/A cars they can free up some good power and worth around 10hp at the wheels. I'm going to give them a shot and see if they do.

okay, i am set i am getting them for winter.
So how hard are these to install or how much would they roughly cost to get them installed in a specialised euro shop for example?
Thank you in advance.

I did them myself on my other cars - it's a straightforward job, but they can be a pain in the *** to remove as they're really torqued on there. You will need a special tool to remove the crank pulley, but they can be purchased/rented from larger automotive chain stores. You may also need a different belt as by changing the pulley the stock one may no longer fit (on the Mustang I was ok, for the Firebird I had to buy a new one).
If you get it done at a shop, I don't see it taking any more than a half hour - probably the better way to go as taking off the stock pulley can be a real bear.

Hey guys, our local forum tuner, vrus, makes a set of under drive pullies for our cars and the other N/A 55 cars I found out. His are much cheaper than the evosport ones and vrus makes very high quality parts and provides excellent support. If we can get 5 folks together he'll let us have them for $260.

Sorry, haven't checked this particular post in awhile. Don't know if you have the numbers yet, but you can add mine. Like I said, I've had good results with it in the past, no reason why it shouldn't work as well on the SLK.
Sorry I haven't been on here much. I've been busy trying to get my E55 sold since I don't drive it anymore and projects at work have me tied up. Vrus is the one with the UD kits and he's still got them. Though at the time he checked in there were only 3 intereted so it fell off the radar. I had some PMs from some folks but they were disuaded from getting them in favor of other mods at the time.
No, contacted an MB tech at another board and told me that it will affect some parts in the long run and isnt worth it.
So thats why I cancelled this idea. I think it will affect something that relates to the cooling system if memory serves me right.

Another option is a lightweight crank pulley - there's a fairly new product out for the NA 5.4L, seems to be a quality piece and has a built in damper, just like stock.
