SLK55 question

SLK55 question
Friend of mine is considering a preowned SLK55 but not sure which model year is 7G. Is it still worth buying a new one as he deosnt know if the model is gonna be replaced in 08?
I have not been very up2date on SLK, any advice appreciated.

All SLK55 AMG's have the 7G gearbox. There's actually been very little difference since it's release in 2004.
The interior material was changed from a very granular one, to a more vinyl like one since the old material was hard to keep clean, but the old material IMO felt much better as well as looked better too.
Other changes include having replaced the buttons on the steering wheel, with proper paddles (for changing gears). This doesn't change the actual changing of the gears in the gearbox however, it's just aesthetic.
There's talk of a facelift in 2008 (for the 2009 models). Nobody really knows how major this facelift will be, but it should mean that the car will continue to be the R171 with just a slightly more powerful engine (for the 350) and some changes to the front bumper/fog lights and other cosmetic changes (once again, for the 350 and other non-AMG models). Nobody knows for sure what will happen with the AMG.

Wonder if will there be a 63 engine for the R171 in 2009?
Any news anout 350 engine power upgrade, I am thinking it might be nice to get a C350 W204 with 300hp+

I dont think we will see an SLK63 as teh 6.2l engine is hard to fit in the engine bay. The 350 is getting 306hp from what I've read through the forums and has some minor exterior enhancments.

Yes, like alroumi said, we don't know for sure about the 63 as of yet, and the 350 is supposed to get a pump up in power (some sources have said 296hp, and some have said 306... I guess we shall see).

Hi guys, I don't have an SLK but is actually looking for one also, but isn't My2008's already been out? I checked the Benz site and the SLK 350 for 2008 is STILL 268hp.... didn't get any bump in HP as speculated? and there is no facelift for 2008 also... it seem to be it's the exact same car as 2004-7......
