Does the 2007 SLK55 have the passenger mirror-drop in Reverse gear feature?
I've read that most SLK55 models have a convenience feature that causes the passenger mirror to drop when the car is put into reverse. This feature facilitates parallel parking close to a curb.
I can't figure out how to enable this feature in my 2007 SLK55. After talking with a rep at the Mercedes HQ for 30 minutes, she said the car's 2007 brochure advertises this feature, but neither she nor I could find out how to enable it in the manual. It wasn't described on page 47 along with the side mirror instructions, nor was it described with the instrument cluster instructions.
The feature also does not seem to appear in the Instrument Cluster menu, and my dealer's service center rep couldn't find it, either, when I took the car in for service this morning. Seems like it's missing!
I'm wondering -- is the feature just hidden and difficult to activate? Or maybe Mercedes made a mistake or software bug by forgetting to include it in the 2007 model's control software? Any owners with a 2007 who can share their experience would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

If you have the feature you need to activate it in the dash menu and also select it on the mirror adjustment control. I suggest reading the manual since it is hard to explain.

You can activate that by using the dash menu at the convience mode, and you turn that on, you should always have the mirror adjustment button on for the passanger side! Try that!!!

Ditto's, activate in the menu, select the left mirror and put in reverse. You may need to put it in drive briefly to recognize it...or at least I have to some times. Never really understood why it doesn't automatically activate b/w the two things and just putting it in reverse. Usually back in to most spaces, so not an issue on leaving.

Thank you for the advice. There is only one option in my Convenience menu and it has nothing to do with mirrors. Do you all have 2007 models?
I have tried shifting into reverse, drive, and various combinations of having the passenger mirror switch pressed and lit-up, but nothing makes the option appear in the Convenience menu. Any ideas?

Do you have the memory pack ok? I.e. Electric adjustable seats? Its just my friend has the manual seats and he doesnt have this function either? Its in the manual on how to set the mirror iirc you double tap the switch adjust the mirror and then tap again, might work with out having to enable it on the menu system

I have the automatic transmission and I do have the memory seats option. I tried double-clicking the passenger mirror, tried holding it down for 8-10 seconds, but the option never shows in in the menu. What is bothering me most about this is that I am about 60% sure that during my orientation, the option appeared in the convenience menu with a small mirror icon. The rep who was orienting me wasn't all that sharp and set it to disabled. I specifically recall seeing an intriguing convenience-type option that (I think) mentioned a mirror, and I recall him setting it to no. Now I've poured through the menu system and none of the options ring a bell.
I'm a software engineer and I can see how it would be entirely possible to have a bug in the software menu where if an option is set to NO, it is unintentionally hidden, deleted, or lost forever from the display. I am thinking of trying to have the dealer re-flash or re-load the operating system software that drives the in-dash menu. This is really aggravating! The more I think about it, the more I'm sure I saw the convenience mirror option during orientation, and that it is due to a software bug that it is now gone or hidden. It's also equally possible that sloppy/lazy coding work simply omitted the feature from the 2007 SLK55.
Anyone with an automatic '07 SLK55 with memory seats have the option in the Convenience menu to do a parking mirror drop???

Try pressing the outside top left button until you see "reset hold for 3 second", then use the down arrow on the left side. You should then see the mirror option on/off. Use the +/- on the right to change the setting if it is off. Hope that helps.

I don't know about the 07s but I do know that US-spec cars had this feature taken out eventually. The 09s and 08s don't have it.[/QUOTE]
May be that's the reason why that function is not showing on your dash, cause mine is a 07 in Canada!!

I've got this feature on my '05. I've also got the feature where I can have my driver seat slide back when I take the key out of the ignition (I heard they took this feature out as well).

Yeah I think they took out the seat slide back function, cause mine just have the steering column rise when I take the key out!!! I want to have the seat slide back also!!!

well, lee at least you got the bigger brakes! Mine's got the downsized ones. Also, one of the members on these benz boards had problems with the easy-entry thing on his slk. Apparently, the seat would keep hitting the back when exiting the car.

OFF TOPIC:
Yep. I'm going to upgrade the brakes when I can to the 030 calipers if I can and when I have the cash. First things first however are smarttop and plexiglass windscreen.
Enjoy your car btw.
