X pipe install today...but...
is it me or is this thing still tame? I was expecting a bit more growl from the web links posted. Do the rear cans muffle that much? Does anyone make an exhaust application for the stock tips?

Also, can someone send me a high res of the exhaust at eye level. I think they messed up on placement of the same and want a pic to go off of on centering correctly. Thanks. Email is f1loco@me.com.

resonator
the reason is because they have the cut the resonator off. Since it is CUT off and the XPIPE is welded back on ... they have to align the muffler tips because now it is only being held on by a couple hangers. This means its loose until you actually weld the xpipe back on.
From what I understand he should have welded the Xpipe on with the mufflers on so that he could eyeball it.

He actually yanked the exhaust and TIG welded the system with flanges. In any event, I need a good shot of the *** and how the pipes should line up in the cut outs, as well as the angle and depth of the tips. On a side bar, has anyone ever tried removing the rear cans and see what it sounds like? They are huge and muffle any grunt from the V8.

20+ to list......
Here's a picture of my exhaust taken off @ GMP because of Kleemann upgrades. You will see where I had the x-pipe and straight pipes welded.

Nice a$$ pic. The wife isn't happy with most my cars by the time I sell them, and is usually happy another stock project enters the fold...or at least initially.
No, it still is pretty tame. It's not a big change, but is more noticeble at WOT for sure, especially with the roof down. A pretty good compromise really, giving a harder edged deeper growl when you get on it, but barely noticeable at idle or part throttle cruising. That works for me when "she-who-must-be-catered-to" also drives the car .

The Magnaflow may be small in terms of length. However, it has the same diameter as the rest of the exhaust. Perhaps, the pic makes it look small?

The x -pipe is tame.... I just installed them to get rid of the occasional roughness during idle that the straight pipes have. But they are too quite. Tomorrow, I'm going back to the straights.

the xpipe is a nice addition to any 55, i changed the rear cats for kleemann racing ones and it sounds significantly louder, however when i installed the kleemann headers this year it is now very loud at idle but gets tame when the car warms up. This is due to the headers eliminating the primary cats.

Problem on 2nd'y CATS is how tight they are after the bend but b/f the resonator/x-pipe location. To TIG, means pulling them from the collector back. For that, I might as well get a SS front section. Had LT's on my old Roush...they do add significant volume. Probably too much for me in a SLK. My neighbors certainly were glad when I got rid of it a few years back.
