2013 SLK 55 at the dragstrip

Took my new '13 SLK 55 to the dragstrip today. It had 572 miles on it so far from broke in. DA was at 1500 on my best runs. 12.9 @ 111. 60' was around 2.15-2.2 so not great. Lots of wheelspin. Needs better tires.

Nice run! That's about on-par for the R171 55, correct?

You're right, better launch and you should shave a few tenths off.

Great runs, future mod would be a limited slip unless you have the PP?

Better tires will help a great deal. I ran a 12.58 @116 recently with PSS tires.

Yeah, that's what I plan on getting. I put a set of PSS on my CLS63 for when I'm not running the DRs. Having it broke in will help too.

12.58 is cooking for an N/A car! Very nice. Is that tune only?

My car is Tune and has custom exhaust work. The exhaust work has certainly gained some power, but the sound is, eh. I think we need to add the resonator back in and play with different pipes. Its just way too raspy and metallic, if that makes sense?

Totally makes sense. That's why I'm so reluctant to mess with mine, I want more sound but I don't want to have any annoying rasp.

If you're still running rear cats, I'd remove those and reinstall the resonator if your local laws allow that. The bigger gain to be had (flow) is from removing cats, whereas the resonator is an acoustic inhibitor more than a flow inhibitor. Sound is a very subjective thing.

Not picking a fight here but I'm thinking if your SLK55 weighs the same as my C55 and if I got Eurocharged ECU/TCU and Kleemann headers I should be able to pull 12.5s?
