2013 SLK 55 at the dragstrip part 2

Took the slk back to the dragstrip. DA was a little worse at 1500ft and temp a little higher. Same gas, same tires, still stock but had more miles at 780. Ran a 12.549 @ 112.14. 1.932 60'. Picking up steam as it breaks in.

NICE!!!! Anything different in your run? How were you hooking up?

I think you should be the first to throw on some headers and drop that time

It hooked up a little better this time around. Definately feel it getting quicker as I put miles on it. Attached is the timeslip from today. I also posted on dragtimes, but will take a few days to show up there.

If you're curious, the car in the other lane was a 2007 E63. They're running pretty neck and neck. Some fun races. We traded wins throughout the day.

Unfortunately the dragstrip is closed until next year either late Jan or Feb depending on weather so I'll have no more updates until then.

MBH never responded to me on pricing after several emails and a PM. Guess they don't want to sell any. Might wait to see what MHP comes up with. They usually make more power.

I never get any responses from them through e-mail or their thread too. What happen if you have problem with their products?

They are also making headers for this car. Aside from the SLS it's the new nat asp kid on the block. I'd love to see someone run 120mph or more in the quarter with a tune and exhaust 2013 SLK 55.

I like that MBH went to a 4 into 1 style versus the tri Y of the C63, good decision guys.

780 miles total on the car? If so bet on another mph or so in the quarter after things losen up. Great job on getting it to the track so quickly and keep up the good work. Lots of potential left on the table!

Yeah, I've been talking to them for a while about it. Was going to send them my car to develop on, but OH is just too far to send it. Even let them in on a new unleaded race gas better than MS109 they've been tuning on that they'll be testing so should be interesting what they come up with. Not run any in the SLK yet, just 93 pump gas. My Porshe Turbo has and it runs mid 10s with just a shelf tune.

Yep, 780 miles. Still has the paper plate on it. I was getting some odd looks at the track. Gotta break it in hard though. With some proper tires other than these awful continentals it's a low 12s car stock, maybe sneak into the 11s once it's all broke in.

Don't forget to put the car in dyno mode, it will require more driving skills but should net improved times once you get the hang of things.

You can turn traction control off in the new models without using dyno mode now. Just have to hold down the ESP button for like 5 seconds. However the stock tires are not up to the task to properly use it. All these were done in the intermediate Sport handling mode.

Umm sir, I believe we traded wins when I took the wheel of the SLK So, technically you're right

I know this is something you may have pushed out of your memory from my turn behind the wheel, but I believe the fastest times of the day occurred right before this:
"What did you do to my SLK?!" - JumpinJim
"Turned off Traction Control completely" - fly2nite

And it seems you forget I had the fastest RT, 60', and ET driving both cars.

You also seem to forget you didn't have traction control all the way off as you didn't know you had to hold it down to turn it off in the newer cars. You only had it in sport mode which is what I always use.

Haha, next you'll tell me we actually did go to the moon. TC was all the way off on my two best runs out of three. On the first run, I used half-way sport mode, then off completely for the other two. Remember, you got back in and tried it all the way off and all you got was wheelspin. My technique was launching just above idle, and rolling into it.

I see your allergies are causing you to become delusional. I distinctly remember you saying you didn't know you had to hold it down to turn it off. Surely you still remember the SLK taking wins despite a 90HP deficiency. It's ok though. Maybe you'll have better luck beating me with your new car...I do take frequesnt naps.
