Yes, I'm going to spend money on a hairdryer in my headrest. Its a must have, even though its a bit silly.

To airscarf or not to airscarf....
Prospective buyers - would you actually tick the airscarf box?

Maybe
Depends.
If I wind up owning an R171 in the future, it will be pre-owned. So it will depend on whether the previous owner opted for the airscarf!

my thoughts
its nice to have a new innovation, well not only this is the reason, but its also useful in cold and windy days....
well, its a better option than folding mirrors, right?

I had expected the reviewers to make fun of this option. Instead I have been surprised to see many a reviewer laud this feature as innovative and useful. It actually sounds like an option at least as useful as heated seats and along that vein may well be important for resale.

If and when I get the car, I'd probably get it due to the simple fact that I almost always get every possible option anyway (except ****ty cell phone pckgs)

A bucket on wheels
About a few decades ago, car manufacturers started to include Air conditioners as an option and everyone thought they were nuts...now its a must have. It isn'y an option on most cars so maybe some of, probably not all of the innovations these car companies come up with will become a necessity in the future. With that said...i dont think i can get myself to pay an extra couple g's when i could simply put on a freaken scarf

I asked the question principally to see if people would think it was important for resale.
I fear it might be to begin with, and then it will become as irrelevant as massaging and cooled seats in the SL (which are a waste of time).

I won't be going for airscarf as its pointless if you already have something like...... a scarf...... or a coat?!!!

Hail to airscarf
Im definitely getting the airscarf. Well, mainly because my dad is getting me the car so I might as well load the car as much as possible lol. I wonder if the 05 SLK's trunk is automated like that of Phaeton.

Well I just bought an S2000 which I really enjoy but good lord is that SLK55 tempting!!!!!!
My question, living in Phoenix is, can you route the AC through the airscarf vent? If so, it would definetly be on the list, but so would the AMG badge and corresponding options so for me it would be a moot point.

Actually the airscarf has its own little heating unit built into it. It is my understanding that it actually blows heated air, not just the ambient air. I also recall it has three different settings which may be just fan speeds to maximize the airflow though so if there is a way to turn off the "heater" you should at least be able to get a fan effect.

Note that the third link on post immediately above shows the airflow best. At the base is the fan unit which appears to be the size of a saucer so it should propel a lot of air upward.

I ticked the option box - it looked like a bit of a gimic to me but I've never owned a convertible (and always said I never would!) and it's bloody cold where I live AND my car will be delivered at the end of December!

my $0.02...
absolutely get the airscarf.
it's phenomenal to drive my 3000gt twin turbo convertible (or any convertible) in chilly to sub freezing weather - heat full blast. with the side windows up the cabin is a pretty comfortable place. i still need to wear a thin sweater however...... i imagine the slk with airscarf will be so much better.
i've had folks stare in amazement ...........
imagine zooming around top down in your slk, in the middle of winter, in a tee shirt!
watching fall foliage on a crisp autumn day.....
airscarf- it's a must have.....

As for AirScarf, I would order it for sure being that I have read nothing but great reviews about it. Sounds like a great feature. I personally hate scarf’s and jackets when I am driving.
