Drove 2000 miles to pick up my 55 (pics)

Well I finally drove back down to Sarasota to pick up my 55 last week. The timing was perfect- I escaped a blizzard and was welcomed with 75 degree weather Here are a few pics:

The E320cdi the morning we departed

Top down weather!!

Biturbo V12 anyone? They had four of them!

Love those AMG wheels!

///AMGs are 7g autos. It is definitely a big step coming from the s2k. I absolutely loved that car. The slk is much more comfortable, more attractive, faster, and has more cache, but the s2k still holds a special place in my heart.

ohh nice. I thought the SLKs had a 6spd option, guess i was wrong.
guess i'll tell you the same thing the guys over there told ya, get those rims changed . I think that car would look awesome with some 5 spokes.

Does the SLK feel a lot heavier than the S2k, or does it feel just as nimble?

have fun with the car!

didn't know there was a monochromatic tan leather option- red with tan is very attractive.

It's a completely different beast than the s2k. It is slightly more confidence inspiring in some situations due to the larger, stickier tires (S2000's come with great tires, but I switched to some less expensive ones, which was a good idea because I ended up going through 18 in less than 3 years) and the ESP. However, the slk does not feel anywhere near as nimble or tossable. Despite the bad rap it always gets from magazines, the s2k is a very neutral handling car and the 'snap oversteer' is controllable. The s2k never put up amazing raw grip statistics in stock form, so I wouldn't be surprised if the ///AMG beats it here, but in terms of feel, the S is the clear winner.
