R171 Reconnaissance Lunch Cruise
R171 owners, you're invited!
Mission - A bold attempt by a handful of brave R171-owning souls to plot, plan and execute, at a future date, an official SoCal SLK GTG.
Our Agenda -
10:30 am - Meet in the Electric Chair parking lot in Huntington Beach (410 Main St).
11:00 am - Drive down PCH to Nwpt Coast Rd to Lag Cyn Rd to wine & dine in Laguna Bch at that alfresco cliffside restaurant where it and its attached p. lot both overlook Main Beach and the water (don't forget sunglasses).
1:ish - Keep going down PCH thru Capo Bch to San Clemente where our SD contingent, if he/they choose to join us, can just take off and go home while the rest of us will head back down PCH to Huntington

Wolf (no more pouty face
)My pre-reconnaissance for the Reconnaissance Lunch Cruise has found that the restaurant on the cliff is no mas, but the lot is still there and empty, so that will probably where we park before we got next door or something to eat - I'll investigate other Laguna Beach eateries in the meantime as a backup.
As for San Clemente, I am clueless. I a prior drive up the coast I notice the quaintness quotient kinda ended here? If anyone knows a good place to park and hang for a bit here, please let us know, after all this is a reconnaissance cruise and we would appreciate all input

With just the three of us (in two cars), we were able to get lost (my fault, twice), but have fun spinning Ueys to get headed back going the right way

With Lady Wolf in the passenger seat, while Wolf drove his car and me mine, she was able to not concentrate on driving but on what was going on with the other drivers. The unbelievably incredibly beautiful Bentley that I was having a cow over on the Coast Hwy off Newport Coast was, I found out later from our observer contingent, actually checking US out!
I think LW can tell you better, but to see one SLK55 is one thing, to see two was just too much for some. That poor Boxster that was next to us on PCH most the way, to have his erroneous purchase thrown in his face not once, but twice. Perhaps he could take solace that he wasn't the only car on PCH that day that was being humbled. If not faster, we were just having so much more fun than anyone!
Even the bellman at the Montage (where we had an apres lunch with a killer view of the Pacific) asked if we had been racing each other. That wasn't til later on Nwpt Coast Rd - LW informed W and I that we both had the same stupid grin on our faces

TOO FUN!!!
I will post pictures soon. I have to work now, and I was just too exhausted that night - truly, the excitement and concentration required did me in, but of course, I can't wait to do it again!
