SLC43 AMG - Thoughts?

Unbelievable! Out the window goes "one man one engine"!
this is ridiculous to say the least, and I hope it doesn't trickle down the rest of AMG lineup.
I like the way the SLC looks, but using a mass-produced V6 engine is just wrong.

SLK55AMG, SL600
Hmmm, I guess a test drive may be needed to see how it feels. On a positive note I think since it's twin turbo some tweaks on boost, exhaust, and ecu tuning may help a lot. Speedriven come to mind!

I can't believe a real AMG car will use an off the shelf Mercedes motor. Additionally, It's weird not having a V6 option for the high end non-AMG car. My wife drives a '12 SLK350, a perfect in between option.

I had initially heard rumors of the 4.0TT M178 AMG engine, and I was very interested and couldn't wait to see it. I was thinking now this could be a bad *** car!!! Small, nimble, AND bad ***. I was pumped.
Now I see it, and while it looks sexy, the engine is a major WTF. I guess they were just bound set and determined to make this the AMG for girls or something. If they'd put 500HP in it, then it wouldnt have to stay a girls car. But this? Srsly? WTF!?!?!?!??
Glad I got the SL63. Not even thinking for a second that the SLC might be more fun.

SLC43 The truth
well I bought one, I bought it over buying a 2014 used SL63. I am sure the rest of you on this thread will think I am mad.
Here’s why. I live in the UK. Countryside, the roads are narrow, and the car is my daily driver. I wanted a car that is both comfortable and fun and involving to drive. This car is actually bloody fast, don’t let anyone tell you any different. The drop in weight from the SL is significant and makes the car a lot of fun in the conditions I drive it in. The engine may be built by Robert the robot, but it is an absolute peach. The sound and responsiveness are brilliant. Not the bellow of the V8 but a different and very intoxicating sound all the same.
The car car has tons of grip and the chassis provides plenty of feedback, I can place the car exactly where I want it, I get a great feel from the road, the steering is accurate and input illicits movement precisely how you would expect it to.
The car car is a very good looking car, the rear end is way more resolved than the SL. Looks are a personal taste, this car is something I am very proud to own and drive. I actually love the fact there are so many haters, most have never driven one yet feel totally qualified to dish it.
This car car has a limited slip, diff, fast steering, great brakes, and handles just fine, you say it isn’t a real AMG, so bloody what, I don’t care what the haters think, it’s their loss.

The AMG SLC43 may not pass the 'smell test' for the truest AMG purists, but the performance-to-price ratio and pure seat-of-your-pants fun is indisputable to anyone who has actually driven one.
The SLC43 Speedshift TCT 9G transmission is surpassed only by the MCT variant, and the TCT 9G is light years better and far more visceral fun than the 7g-tronic.
Sure, I'd also enjoy an AMG-GT or E63s or S65 but that doesn't mean I don't also enjoy the SLC43 and find great joy and value in its niche.
On the used market in a few years, this would make an ideal weekend GT track racer.
Due to the short wheelbase & torque, it can drift at will and literally spin like a top all day doing Nascar-style victory burnouts.

I just picked up a 2017 SLC43 and I am having a blast.
Sport Plus mode with the rev matching down shifts and exhaust pops are very kool.
Lots of power from the twin turbos.
Same motor as my GLC43 however about a
ton lighter in weight.
Bought it for the wife now maybe she will give me my truck back.
