I think it is a typo. How the hell would they be able to do 36 valves with an 8 cyliner engine?

No, it really has 36 valves.

In the UK, the left hand bank has 4 valves, right hand has 5 valves
In the US, the left hand bank has 5 valves, right hand has 4 valves

It's all about putting the power closest to the driver

4 and 5, 5 and 4

LOL. And what happens when you are'nt living in the UK or the US?
((5+4)/2 + (4+5)/2) / 2 = 4.5 valves per cylinder.
Maybe the russians drive SLR's with 4.5 valves per cylinder?

One puzzling thing though. Assuming SLR's are all built in the same place. ie: Somewhere in Gernany. Then the allocations for the US, and the UK would happen before any of them are assembled? If this is not the case, then i am horribly confused about the valve allocations.

I think the SLR is actually built in Woking, UK. Not sure about the engine though, which might still be from Germany?

yes the SLR is built in the UK, and the engines are built where all the other AMG's are built.

Engines are built in Afelterbach, Germany.
Car assembled in Woking, UK. That engine sure is a work of beauty.

Wouldn't matter. I believe ALL SLR's are LHD.
Still an interesting thought, lol
