Mini SLR

Anyone see this "Mini SLR Concept" pic?

Here's a fake pic:

Any takers, if they actually make this?

It looks like a character from the new film, "Cars".

I'm sure M-B won't make something using this concept art, but will make something nice within a regular Ferrari price range

Cayenne Turbo
It's an SLR facelifted Koenigsegg... (photoshopped of course)

I don't think it will ever be in production...

Why not? If they could develop such a car for $150,000, it would be a direct competitor to the Gallardo and F430. Or, since it appears to be mid engined, make it a $200,000 car and utilize a tuned version of the AMG 65 motor, which would grant it the power to outrun all of the competition in that ever so exclusive, yet "affordable," baby supercar niche market.

Oh, they will definitely make a mini-SLR... it will be great for business at that price.

Stefi, the picture itself is obviously fake and was probably created by some talented artist not affiliated with M-B. So, expect the actual design to be different from what you see here.

Here's a more accurate pic of a gullwing coupe, due in 2011.

It will be price higher than the SL65 AMG, and will have 1000 hp, making the SLR obsolete at that point.

I believe that was the concept that got dumped after the total failure of the SLR. Its doubtful that you'll see a mid-engined benz any time soon. The Gullwing seems to be the thing they're intent on bringing back, which in my eyes is a total travesty.

The computer rendering looks great, IMHO. MB should make something like this. And it is not like this is their first dip into the supercar market. They launched the SLR, an update to the SLR, and built a fully functional not to mention numbingly fast prototype of the ME-412. Granted the data they have and the ability of having a great variation of AMG motors to select from, this could very well be a realistic project. Like I said in a post from two months ago, price it accordingly and they WILL sell. The slow movement of the SLR was correlated with the inflated price. Can you imagine how many would sell if it was $250K apiece? Make this midengined, lighter, and with more power (coupled with reliability to surpass the exotic competitors) and MB will have a very popular product.
