It means that well-informed car enthusiasts have heard some information about a roadster version of the SLR based on initial information. (probably the concept roadster)
Sure, it doesn't necessarily mean anything definitive, but you can't simply say that it has nothing to do with anything.

OLD: 2004 C230 Sport Sedan, NEW: 2007 SLK350
I don't think where they decided the place the car here has anything to do with anything, but the car was shown originally as a roadster, but they chose not to go that route until now. Doesn't really make a difference, quite matterless actually the actual roadster is on the way.
