SLR/C199/R199/Z199: Will there be 2007 SLR's?
I can tell you that Mercedes-Benz is planning to bring a very small number of SLR '722 Edition' cars to the U.S. Expect news of this in the next couple of weeks.
The next chat is Wednesday.
According to my letter, "ONLY 150 '722 Edition' vehicles Worldwide will be produced!!!..... and also according to the letter, Mercedes-Benz USA, LLC will offer ONLY 24 units for sale in the United States!"
"Customer delivery is scheduled to take place in April of this year at a price of $480,000 (MSRP), plus $2750 destination and delivery charge."
"Present owners got the first chance (limit one '722 Edition' per eligible owner!)
ending on March 16th and then Mercedes will offer the '722' through the Mercedes-Benz dealer network." It looks like a 'hell' of a machine, increased horsepower 650... up from 617), a re-tuned suspension, ? pounds lighter, Black wheels and red "722" badging, a few body enhancements and inside, copious amounts of carbon fiber
I'd be more than happy to buy one at MSRP, IF they would buy back the present SLR I own now...... for what I paid!!!

Heck, go to the main page on this website... the SLR is listed under Roadsters!
I don't think any discussion was given re any trade in on the old SLR for a 722..it was..here you go..you want it , step up...much like magwheel said. I think it was a reservation process, it was being handed off to the dealer then, and they hammered the actual deal out
No pics, no nothing, just a announcement that Dr Z made the announcement at the SLR owners group meeting (in Woking, I think)
It will be a R199...which is why I caught it, in the pile of e-stuff we can see every day..I saw 'R' and went ...what????
I am thinking with Germancar on this...I would say it has to be a ragtop, unless they have had the molds, etc. done from the beginning, which is NOT what we were ever told. Our current vario top, even from an SLK, would not fit in the back of this car as it is configured. And the fuel tanks are in the space behind the seats, so...something has to give here..maybe a new vario top, that stacks itself? that might work..
More info as i get it...
then, from the MB VIP lounge, we watched and heard it buzzing around the track in concert with one of the two orange CLK DTMs that we were given rides in.
not much else to say other than it was as if the sun shined down upon us through the overcast day.

It means that well-informed car enthusiasts have heard some information about a roadster version of the SLR based on initial information. (probably the concept roadster)
Sure, it doesn't necessarily mean anything definitive, but you can't simply say that it has nothing to do with anything.
