Anyone else think that the Chrysler ME412 ...
should be the supercar that AMG/McLaren/Mercedes should have created to represent Mercedes Benz' supercar? Afterall, the technology is there and I believe that the ME412 makes much more of a supercar statement than the SLR. Even call it the SLR since it, at least, maintains the character of a "Superlight" @ around 2800lbs dry. Even up the luxury contents and that version of the "SLR/ME412" could have been kept under 3300lbs. Any thoughts?

I recently read in german mag that Mercedes-McLaren still intend to create a rear engined true sports/race car that would rival the likes of the Bugatti veyron and Chrysler ME412.They also intend to bring out a cheaper model to rival the Lamborghini Gallardo and Ferrari 360.My guess is that the SLR,being the first joint venture between mercedes and McLaren, was used as a research car because the mag also said that most of the technology found on the SLR(like the lightweight carbon fibre cones that absorb energy on front impact) will find its way to future cars.Its not even sure that the chrysler ME412 will make production unless people really show interest in it.

I had no idea that Chrysler was doing R&D into such a car.

Just graft the SLR front end to the ME412
a few choice AMG logos, Mercedes star in prominent locations, and the rear lights. Then you're there! Photoshop anyone???
