I'm definitely not coming in here and saying this to try to say anything negative about any of your cars, so please don't take offense or get angry. The SLS has been my dream car for the past couple of years and I hope to one day get my hands on a pre-owned one. But with that said, I prefer forced induction engines over NA engines (a point proven by my current car), and I was wondering if there were any plans to drop the 5.5L Biturbo engine in the SLS anytime soon. Has anyone heard anything?

The SLS is too low....set up for a dry sump oil system without a traditional oil pan.
AMG was able to spend the extra money on a dry sump system because the 6.3 was at the end of it's cycle.

They design the whole car from scratch and modify the 6.2 engine with direct injection, forged internals, intake, crankshaft, heads with new cams etc. but could spend the "extra money" on a dry sump lubrication because the engine is at the end of it's cycle?

Look at the bigger picture and it is quite clear why they chose the N/A 6.2 engine. The car is designed to be a sports car with very well balanced handling characteristics, hence the dry sump which not only lowers the center of gravity, but also guarantees all the engine internals to be lubricated even under high cornering speeds. But most importantly, Mercedes wants to compete in the FIA GT3 class, which only allows N/A engines.

Don't get me wrong, the 6.2 engine is a masterpiece, but I was personally hoping to one day be able to get a 5.5TT SLS.

Either way, all of you SLS drivers. Baby your cars please, one day I might be buying yours

The new engine is to be offered in all models, starting from the obvious in the S class and now the CLS etc, they have not confirmed that if and when this will be offered in the C63 yet, but one thing for sure, the SLS from what I understand will always have the big power plant, it is an exotic and with the 6.2L remaining in the SLS, this will allow it to have a unique touch and not to have to share it with the other class models....thank god, this is the way I want it.

I expect the 4,5 TT from the S500 and the CL500 to find its way into the smaller AMG models. With a bit of tuning pretty decent numbers can be had from that engine too, and it would be weird if all the cars got the 'same' engine. I found that weird with the 63 engine too. But now they have that 4,5 TT on the shelve...

SLS does not have DI and it does have the same compression ratio as a regular 6.3 fwiw. I for one don't ever see the 5.5L TT going in this car and hope even more that it doesn't. The motor is a perfect match for the car and it's intended purpose.

I don't think the SLS will get the new engine for some time, if ever. They developed the M159 and new 5.5tt alongside one another. Why would they develop two new engines (or at least one new engine and one new enough to merit a new engine designation) if they weren't serious about the NA motor?

Haven't even heard distant rumors about this so I say it's a dead issue.

HOWEVER, I have heard rumors of a "baby SLS" in the works that would use some type of smaller TT. Small V8 or maybe just V6.

No matter what engine, the SLS is too expensive.
