Door jam replacement difficultly?

How difficult is it to replace this? I imagine it’s not easy to buff these scuffs out, because this part is plastic.

Why do you need them off? If for repainting them, you can take them off after removing the LEATHER part and taking the screws out(iirc it's 2 screws),the plastic is held by double sided tape.
You can take the plastic cover off without removing the door lock.

Thanks, great info.

I am thinking of replacing the sills with new ones since I’m not sure if the scuffs can be buffed out.
Maybe a bad sign that the previous owners didn’t seem to care much for the sills?

No need to replace them...Just have them repainted or have them done in Carbon Fiber.

My text keeps getting deleted!! Wtf?

anyway, anyone know why the insulation is torn here? Seems like an odd thing on a 13k mile car.
Sloppy service tech? Water ingress through hood vent?

Try using McGuire’s Scratch X on the scuffs, and if not satisfied have that threshold piece repainted. On the last photo, I would guess that might be the work of a rodent. I picked up a low mileage Porsche with a similar insulation appearance and the technician cited rodents as the root cause.

However you repair the sills, repaint or buff, I would highly suggest having them covered in clear bra. I had mine done when I first got it and it's saved the sills from a ton of scratches.

Agree the second looks like it was from a rodent.

Yes on the rodents and there are stories of them eating the wiring insulation in Subarus and Toyotas who have started using some kind of plant based insulation for wiring. Get a replacement piece from the dealer and then spray it with bitter apple from a pet supply store. I'd look over the wiring too just to be safe.

Thanks guys. Yes, I passed on this particular car. Probable rodents and very few service records = too much of a risk of me.
I use Fresh Cab in my C63 (where the battery is in the trunk) and never had an issue with rodents. If you park outside I think some kind of repellent is a wise move. Rodent damage can cost 4-figures!
