Dead battery Need Replacement Suggestions

Hey guys

Drove the SLS after 5 months of sitting on the trickle yesterday. Car started up perfect, after a 30 mile drive to and from Malibu car would not start back up

I looked on forum but could not find any battery replacement suggestions or if its best to stick with factory. TIA.

2012 SLS AMG

I had to put a new one in this year.. of course MB had none in stock. So I just bought a oem replacement from Canadian Tire. They actually had them in stock, and fit perfect with the correct terminals and mounting and drain as well.

Any thoughts on interstate battery replacements. I've heard they are stronger than the factory ones.

ive had it on the factory charger the whole time, didn't drive car for 6 months may have killed battery

I get that. But what I’m asking is what kind of battery does the regular SLS have. My black series SLS has a lightweight/lithium ion I believe. So do the GT’s. Was curious if they were different.

I will post my part number when I get home but, the SLS had a standard lead acid battery. There was an original part number for the battery and that's been superseded by another part number in the MB system...

Correct the lithium ion battery on the black series SLS reduces the weight by 18 lb from the standard SLS battery.

This is the part number on my standard Mercedes SLS replacement battery.,.. Black Series will have a different part number on it's ion battery.

I think it's about five times the cost of the regular battery and I'm not going to set any lap records at the Ring

so, I'll stick with the standard one. Plus, I can go on the Atkins diet for 2 weeks and lose 14 lb so, I'm almost there in weight savings. 🤣😂🤣
