this is a much better read then some of these other bash him to death threads.
i must say clay whether you leave the boonies or not you did commit i believe last week to post pictures of a few of the exotics last week. in all fairness you really need to step up to the plate since you did in fact say you would do it at such and such a date.
i can see where people's distain come from. i can see where you are "stuck" in the boonies and not able to live up to a statement you made: however you should of never of committed to something and then drawn it out.
having said all that; you should recommit yourself to a date to provide what you said you would provide last week. whether you use your staff or whatever else maybe at your disposal you should be an honorable person and provide what you said you would provide.

I believe that I committed to posting the pics as soon as I could; and I alos believe that I had decided - and stated - that I was going to marshall the pics and wouldn't have others involved unnecessarily(?).
I have committed to posting pics. I will. The timing has been beyond me to accomplish -- so far. As soon as it can be done, it will be. The best that I can do is the best that I can do. Sometimes life gives you choices - and sometimes it doesn't....
All a matter of due course......

Yet when questioned about this, you have only made excuses as to why you cannot provide details. When pressed further, you posted some pictures claiming someone who worked for you had taken them, only to find out that the pictures are freely available on the internet. I don't condone those who continue to harass you and I have taken active steps to stop this kind of action. But the underlying issue here is you not wanting to provide details into anything that you post. You have created a curiosity about yourself, which I believe you have done on purpose. To get all upset because people are questioning you, to the point where you are threatening legal action is stupid.
What he said.
(not meant to pile on, but rather to just make it clear). I've given away many "details" of my life, none of which can jeopardize my security, unless the federal government wants to track me down or something, in which case I'm screwed anyway. The internet is no different than a neighborhood.. your neighbor down the street knows the car you drive, and the time you come and go, he knows your name quite possibly and even can dig thru your trash.... it's all about what kind of trash you allow him to see that can jeopardize security.
I've never given away financial info, or specifics of my work location etc.. but to show pics of my CDI or my Army service (as I did in a prior thread) from 15 years ago is completely harmless.

Well you have certainly expressed your take on the issue, rev.
For clarification purposes: I have decided at this point to not post any details or photos of cars that come through the business, or of any of my business people (or to do this only very rarely) -- this is what 'has certainly not worked out well', in reference to the earlier post.
I have stated before that a large enough percentage of the photos one might find on the internet of exotics and other supercars may be of vehicles I own or have owned, or that have gone through one of my businesses -- this has been and will continue to be a normal occurance: it is the business(es) that I am in -- and there just aren't too many of us in the business; and only so many cars which are involved in a given year.... Not anything that I am going to change about that part - other than posting-up or talking about far fewer of them in the future.
The 'threatening of legal action' statement in your post should be addressed, I believe: I don't recall threatening anyone with legal action. I do recall posting that certain activity may qualify for or warrant the possibility of legal action, or may possibly qualify as or warrant being termed as unlawful or legally actionable -- that's how I remember it.... And if I remember correctly it had to do with harrassment -- and nothing to do with curiosity, details, or questioning in any true sense of the use of those terms....
Do you remember it differently than that? As your post just prior conveyed in meaning to me as I just read it?

These excuses of why you can't post more detailed info seem very suspicious to me. Your comments now about deciding to not to post pictures or info is certainly not surprising.

i am a non-believer because ClayJ displays too much interest in exotic cars for someone who claims to own many of them. That's more the behavior of someone like me who has never driven an exotic car and aspires to own one one day.
Case in point: When Enzo Ferrari was alive, he could have driven any Ferrari he wanted but he drove a Fiat sedan. Exotic cars had become a bore for him even though he never achieved level of wealth that ClayJ claims to have.

Just sounds like another ClayJ bashing thread to me....
Is there a point in my responding? Each time I do and I think I'm making headway -- we end up with the same few disgruntled members/comments.....
I cannot and will not promote my businesses or vendors on this site. A couple of times I have slipped up and mentioned one indirectly through a pic posted, or whatever. Each time someone jumped on it, made a big deal of it, and both named and linked the vendor or business -- which I had not originally done or wanted done. Each time I have tried to explain that I did not believe it was wise to identify the business or vendor, and that I had my reasons for specifically not doing so -- and each time the 'jumper' not only ignored my request, but also bashed me for it and made more out of it(!). Each time I have backed out - but the jump on it mentality prevents me from doing so with no trace.... Therefore I will no longer do so - new rule (old rule) for me. I cannot any longer share fantastic stuff with this forum community because of identification problematics. This is a real shame. I do not wish to address the specifics of that last incident: because all it does is remind everyone, and provide a trace to anyone new to look it back up - to pull it back up....
I'll post the goods, you all can see what's up, and I'll leave it at that.
But the constant attacking is not conducive to either my enjoyment of being here in the community, and sharing - which it once was - or of my continuing to do so....
I'm trying -- but not entirely sure it is worth it.... And that is a real shame.

do you not understand that by talking about your supercar business' and stating that you have supercars and that you are not willing to share what you have, only, in return makes things worse involving this topic... you are playing the nice guy angle and at the same time provoking a response such as this one... your logic is just that: your logic.
did you get out of the "boonies" at 10:30 this morning?

I highlighted the most absurd part of your drivel. If you had shared any of your "fantastic stuff" with the community, there probably would not be a problem.
I agree that attacking someone for this kind of stuff is wrong. But please don't come on here and pretend that the cause of the problem is really the result of the problem.

far from it dude ,
this is a discussion about you and the rash of thread closures because of you and your haters.
It's very arrogant on your part to assume that we cannot question things that you say and then feel hurt that we pursue that issue.
whenever you get on a thread or start one and then you make statements of :
i own this and
i'm getting that or
i'm so bored with my lifestyle of rich and annonymus
you will attract interest ,attention and comments .After acheving that you want people stop asking you about you?

These "clay" threads have been interesting, to say the least. I laughed, I cried, it was better than "Cats".
He seems like a nice enough guy, well spoken, his posts are usually well put together, he provides nice pictures, and some of the information he provides is accurate. He seems to know what he's talking about a lot of the time, as would anyone who spends large segments of his day in front of a computer. He amuses as well, with his veiled threats and "you just made the list, buddy" statements.
Has he done anything to harm anyone on this board? I doubt it, he seems to carefully abide by the Term of Use. So, no matter how much a lot of people would like to get rid of him, the mods can't do anything about it. Is he annoying? Maybe. Offensive? Perhaps. Attention hound? Yep. Dangerous? Nope.
Is he for real? Well, I'm sure that most mature people on this board would have enough common sense to know the answer to that one.
One thing is for sure... this would have to be one of the biggest cases of internet "ownage" since Al Gore invented the thing. For one person to divert so many people's attention away from the topic at hand (Mercedes-Benz autos) and on to himself must be unprecedented on a car forum.
ClayJ owns MBWorld.
If you don't like it, leave. We all know where the other, more serious MB forums are. I think I'll stick around and be further entertained.
