Political threads and the OT

Wouldn't it be nicer if the all the political threads were in a subforum in the OT?
A lot of forums keep the political forum separate from the OT. It just gets old sometimes that certain members hash out the same topics repeatedly. It takes away from the fun and goof off nature of OT to be honest, which is why a lot of people come to MBworlds OT... to get away from the hectic pressures of the day. I think more people would be active in OT if it wasn't riddled with those political threads. I am not saying that the threads shouldn't be allowed, but rather that they be restricted to a "Political" sub-forum of OT. I just wanted to get a consensus/input and see how many other people would appreciate this change?
Thanks
Electro

Maybe we should have a fart/body fluid jokes subforum? That's where Electro and I can really add to the mix. Just think of the possibilities.

Nah... Pete... that fits perfectly into the OT, being as it's light hearted.I am seriously talking about political threads that take away from the light hearted and jovial setting in OT. I am not asking for a ban... sheesh.... just a sub forum. A lot of forums have done so successfully... just an observation.

Please don't compare MBWorld to BWorld. That's like comparing apples to oranges. .
Back to topic:
You do have to admit that it would be even better here on MBWorld, if the political threads had their own subforum.

Electro is right, there should be a forum to discuss what a mess the world is today, who is responsible, and why. There would be some hall of fame threads from that, guaranteed. There seems to be a pretty diverse group of people here at MBWorld with a broad spectrum of beliefs and opinions.

Guys, there can be a million sub-topics here. Since we do have life to live, it gets a bit much. Volunteers for un-paid abuse feel free to apply.

I respectfully disagree....... the political threads that are full of rants don't belong in OT. They hurt the OT crowd..... I won't kid you. I come to OT to let loose and goof off.... not to listen to someone's political rant. It isn't as easy as not clicking on the thread anymore..... it dampens the mood of OT. I urge the mods to check out a few other forums and see the difference in atmosphere when they split the forum.

I'm sure Ricky would know what you're talking about, if I mentioned ClubLexus.

A separate subforum would be nice.

This subject has been discussed by MBWorld staff countless times in the past, and continues to be discussed. You can find comments that "bring down the mood" in just about any thread.

As RBRenton noted, if we were to have a subforum for political threads, we would need one for the NWS threads, one for oggling women's photos, too... Oh, and one for the religious debaters, one for jokes, one for the post ******, and one for...

Thanks for the comments... we welcome any and all opinions on this topic. There are valid arguments on both sides. But the Admins have consistently decided not to subdivide OT to date.

If you take a look at this and other non-political forums, the number of members that actually engage in "soapbox" rants is pretty limited and it doesn't take long to figure out who is an "evangalist" versus someone honestly interested in intellectual discourse. vBulletin provides features to ignore those whose "rant & raves" bother or disturb.

This OT has relatively few political threads compared to some OTs. I personally don't think it makes much sense to "split" the OT. It is a fairly good OT as is. I'd leave it alone...

Id leave the OT alone. You can censure yourself if you want. Just dont look at the threads with politics involved. If your unsure, you can always look at the poster, some people love to try to start political rants.
