That setup won't work. For the front 255/40 will rub. 285 rear will also rub. I was thinking of going with 285/30/19 for the rears but after checking with wheelexperts it will rub. Hope this helps.

I have wished the same. I dream of this setup:

255/35/19
285/30/19

James Cannon with the RennTech AMG supercharged W210 E55 runs 285 in the rear. The inside rear on the W210 has a lot of space. The W210 front is maxed out.

aahh thanks for the response. so basically theres more potential than 285 out rear it all depends on offset of rim and how much fender is rolled? sp you are saying with rolled fenders/stock height 285 is max?

I'm running Pilot Sports 285/35 and 245/40 on the stock 18" wheels and #1 spring pads. Plenty of room and no rubs.

W210 E55 with heaps of rubber!

Sorry to be the one to say many of the posts are wrong, but there's good news for you Dave.

I have a 2000 model E55 and I have 20 inch wheels on my car with the following tires:

235/35/20 front
285/25/20 rear

Neither of these wheels or tires rub anywhere, and a 285/25/20 is actually wider than a 285 in a 19 inch. It really depends on the wheel offset.

I also race my car and use the stock 18 inch AMG Hammer style wheels, with a slick tire 9.5 inch on the front, and 10.5 inch on the rear. There's so much room under the these cars there's no way your dream tires will rub.

Hope that helps. I have a few photo's of my car with 20's if you're interested. It's well worth a look, it's pretty hot.

285 on rear will not rub if your offset is correct. One of the local wheel shop let me try out a set of 20" with 245/30 & 285/25 on a 8.5" front and 10" rear and it fit perfect.

I have 275 on a 9.5" Et35mm and with 3 adult in the back the wheel tuck under there with no problem. there still about .25" til it touched the inner fender. When these tire wear out I will put 285/30 on the rear. As for the front i think 245/35 is the widest i can put up front. Anything wider will rub the inner suspension bolt.

Keep in mind that not all tire are the same width even if the number are the same. for example 275/35/19 you would think they are 10.83mm wide on all tire manufacture but they are not. some manufacture make them wider. Go on to the Tire Rack and check the tire spec on different manufacture on same size tire. You will see some are different by a few milimeter.

Cool E55 Exhaust

1. Exhaust is a standard rear AMG twin outlet muffler, which is located on the left side of the car. Then, from each of the standard outlets, these pipes are joined and bent up (out of view) and split into two on the left, and the right one travels as a single pipe along behind the bumper and also slits into two on the right. From the rear you can't see any of the feeding pipes, all you see is the 4 outlets, two on each side. The rest of the exhaust is standard headers, I have simply removed both cats and the large center muffler. The car sounds amazing. Quiet rumble when cruising, but errupts when you hammer it.

2. No drop at all. Standard factory ride height, standard rolling diameter of the tires so the speedo is not affected.

No I don't, but they simply bend up from each of the muffler outlet pipes behind the bumper and out of view of the eye, then simply Y joins turn them into two. The Y joints are up higher than the outlets and the ends are blocked off with a welded disc, then a large hole is cut in the under side (close to the end) of the Y joints, and the stainless pipes are welded to them from below, and the back ends of the outlet pipes are blocked at the rear. Perfect flow, great sound, $350 to have the entire system made.

I was looking into putting dual exhaust in my car. This local muffler shop told me they can cut out the bottom right side of my trunk with a plasma cutter and flip the cut off piece inside out and weld it back on. He only cut away enough room for the 2nd muffler. Than run all new 2.5" pipe 3" if I want before the resonator (delete resonator, no X-pipe) to the new 2 stainless steel polished muffler with new 3" quad tips. He will cut out the opening in the bumper for the 2nd muffler. He said he will spray the bottom with under layer coating and put in a heat shield for the 2nd muffler. He said it will look like a stock dual exhaust setup.

Basically I can not put a spare tire in the trunk anymore. but will have more room under there. I told him i would think about it, see if there other alternative solution to duall exhaust beside cutting out my trunk. I don't think there any other right way to do this. maybe someday when I have nothing else to do to the car.

do you happen to have a sound clip of the (no cats, no res) setup?
we've seen/heard many no res setups, but no cats/no res setup sound clip seems like no one has one around here

This exhaust setup is so sweet! I asked about getting a quad exhaust done and everyone told me it was a very expensive custom job, so I am wondering how it can be done for only $350? I can do $350 no problem. I would keep the stock AMG tips on though for the looks.

I agree with RAFFIE, I still don't get how this awwesome looking exhaust works. Pictures would be much appreciated!!!

Also, is that $350 AU? Because that would work out to $316 US...damn sliding dollar...when I was in Austraila in 04, this woulda worked out to $262!

Hi everybody,

I saw a set of AMG rims that would normally be on a w221.

20 inch, running 255/35/r20 allround

Would these fit on my W210 E320 CDI ?

After reading this thread I would think that they are mountable?

Hi,

Just to get things clear:

I have a stock E320 CDI W210, and I planning to put on 255/35/r20 on the front and back.

According to you, it should be no problem right? I checked the offset calculator and I think that it would need some more inner clearance?

I am running 215/55/r16 at the moment and it seems to be a tight fit at the front.

I think a wheelspacer it necessary?

tire sizes

I don't like the idea of a 255/35/20 on the front. It's too big and even if it fits it won't look right.

A 235/35/20 fits perfectly on the front if you have the correct offset wheel. Still really wide tires - but perfect fit and ride height. Nito 555's are the way to go. Cheap if you're in the US and work unbelievably well. Better than P Zero's I can confirm. I actually race with the Nito 555's in the wet.

I'd go bigger on the REAR, but you MUST lower the profile. 35 rear profile on the rear will throw your speedo out (a lot!) and look rubbish, I suggest 25's if you wanna maintain the right ride height. Or 30's at a pinch. 285/25/20 if perfect. Continental and P Zero have this size.

Check my photo's and tire sizes if you need to.

Help!

Hey everybody,

Finally set my mind on a set of nice CLS AMG rims, I have looked at the online wheel fitting chart and according to that I can't run this setup on my w210 E320 CDI.

Can somebody please clarify this with me?

Front:
8,5x19 INCH 5x112 Offset 35 Incl 245/35/19

Rear:
9,5x19 INCH 5x112 Offset 35 Incl 275/35/19

The car is professionally lowered with a Koni suspension kit and apex springs, the car is now 40mm lower compared to stock ride height.

http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedi...ket_silber.jpg

So what you think? Can I get run this setup on my benz?

Thanks a gazillion.....

Unless a typo the rear tire size should be 275/30/19. With a 40mm drop make sure the front tires do not rub on either side. If rubbing on the outside the fender lips may need to be rolled. You will also need a special/custom lug bolts. The W210 use 12mm bolts and the CLS uses 14mm bolts with ball seats.

It should indeed be 275/30/19 for the rear!

How should I resolve the bolt issue?
