I don't think E55 is slower than C6 but...

how about E55 vs. Murcielago??

Test drove my friend's C6 yesterday afternoon and didn't feel much faster than my E55 (bad shifting may be? )

But the good thing was I met a black Murcielago on Mission Blvd. in Union City (between 7th and Decoto). I saw it at traffic light when I made a U-turn and decided to wait to see whether the Murcielago wanted to play....

Instead, the Murcielago did a ricer fly-by so I shifted the C6 gear and floored it.... tried to catch up....

I thought the Lambo was ready.... but indeed he slowed down so I was the one who did ricer fly-by

Slowed down and waited again.... but the Murcielago offered no race so I just gave him a thumbs up and he only smiled...

Man.... my dream didn't come true.... but I have to admit that car was freakin' fast!!! I wonder how the Henessey upgrade would do.

Any chance that the black Murcielago's owner in this forum? Can we meet again?

Another one was late last night.... and on Mission Blvd. also.... a Cadillac (I think either CTS or STS) passed me quite fast when I was cruising and gave a hazard light.... What did he mean? Claiming victory?

If he asked for a race, I was sorry that I didn't answer... 'coz my radar said no.

I ran a new c6 with an automatic and smoked him. No contest. BTW I ran a standard turbo porsche (non X50) and I don't know if he was babying it because it wasn't broken in but I went around him in less than a city block from a 15mph start. He looked incredulous that something could pass him, especially a 4 door. HA HA ..... I love my E55!

I recall a magazine did some tests and the result showed that SL55 is faster than the Murcielago from 0-300km. The Lambo is definately the faster one from 0-60mph (under 4secs) if launched perfectly that is.

NO PICTURES!

NO VIDEO!

This is a pristine example of why many, many members, esp those with E55 (hint hint wink wink) should carry cameras with video capabilites with them.

other wise, awsome story, you musta had a great time.

i think the new c6 is faster, also did it have the z51 performance package? that provides better accel in the lower gears. i was readin up on it and it had a redline of 6500 rpm, im feelin that, that right there would be a little low? no? my 1999 c280 redlines at 6k rpm. werid, just a thought

Stock E55 runs 4.2 0-60mph in both Car and Driver and Road and Track road tests. I suspect the C6 might have a lower 0-60 time than the factory claimed 4.2s since the car is much lighter...

I believe the 0-60 times are almost identical but the last c6 I read did a 12.6 1/4 mile @ 113 which means the e-55 will beat it out if only by a car length or two - the moral of this story

"If it's a c6 - go enjoy the competition - you should win!"

Claims are different than real life. As an owner of a extremely non stock Vette I know how difficult it is to make a Vette do what it should do. Driver is the key. The E55 in the hands of anybody can perform extremely well. Not so with the Vette.

I can assure you that torque is the great equalizer and the E55 has gigantic torque at any engine speed. Real world performance on the road may be quite a bit different than on the quarter track. An automatic is not going to put the power to the ground that a standard will. You still have to shift the standard tho. That's the delimma.

The only way to know is with direct head to head competition. Pick on a new C6 and see. If they walk on us I'll accept it and be humbled. So far my competition has failed to impress me.

It took me a few reads to figure out what the heck you guys are yaping about. A Corvette??!?!?! 400hp no less?

OK, real story. Actually, I sort of know the guy. We got into it hot and heavy at Palomar mountain in San Diego. Real tight twisties and some fast straights.

We rode for about 20minutes all out and I ATE his Mom's lunch for dinner. I was even diving inside on him in the turns. The thing can not handle ANY undulations in the pavement. It's a straight track car or it gets all squirlly. One slip and gone. The E55 is just sliding around like a power yacht should.

Take the esp off and floor it. Hear all that wheel spin as the charger kicks in? That only comes from 2 things:

1 - displacement: 5.4 vs 6.0 liters (O.K., he has me but I breath better)
2- forced induction: supercharged vs normal aspiration (hmmmmmm)

you guys either need to move to where there are more power cars or you need to get your E55s tuned.
