right now i'm in a dilema wait a year for e55 or two years for new m5...dunno....what do you guys think will e55 have same good handling and brakes? I'm not talking about the engine coz i think 470 hp more than enough and even if ya need more there always some Brabus or kleeman stuff around.... so what you say guys???
also what is torque of new e55 engine compare to some other engines???
coz i red about SL55 and cumball thing...the guy was telling that he was overtaking turbos and ferrari is it so? if so i think e55 would be faster coz it seems like SL is a bit havier than e55 Isn't it?

Decisions, Decisions... There are a lot of great cars in the price range of a BMW 745i or an E55 AMG. But if you want a super sedan, the AMG and M cars are in class by themselves. From a handling viewpoint, I'll take the BMW based on my own historical experience having owned a number of Bimmers and Benz's. But for clout appeal, there's something to be said about being in an AMG Benz. Regarding the new E55 and new M5, we all won't really know which we would prefer until they both come out. The 745i is one heck of drive, I've test driven one myself and it's impressive.
My advice, enjoy your 745i. Later, when both the new E55 and M5 are out, we'll all enjoy some intense dialogue about which one is better all over again.
Did you trade your ML55 AMG in for the 745i? If not, and you're still thinking about the X5 4.6i, why not trade in the ML55? Now the ML55 vs. the 4.6i is another topic.

Since the 211E55 and 230SL55 are supposed to have similar hp and 0-100km/hr times, this summary may be of interest.
It's a very interesting test summary I copied from earlier this year. It's from the German car magazine Auto Motor und Sport (AMS) and in it are results of a detailed comaprison of 5 cars capable of >300km/h. These are all non modified production cars:
Aston Martin Vanquish
Ferrari 550 Maranello
Lamborghini Murciélago
Mercedes SL55 AMG (unlimited version, a DM 3000 option)
Porsche GT2
They test the cars at the Italian high speed track Nardo (where you don't have any centrifugal force on the car when doing 240km/h). They test acceleration 0-100km/h, 0-200km/h, 0-300km/h and topspeed.
The results are surprising:
0-100 km/h:
Aston Martin Vanquish 5.6 s
Ferrari 550 Maranello 4.7 s
Lamborghini Murciélago 3.6 s
Mercedes SL55 AMG 4.6 s
Porsche GT2 4.0 s
0-200 km/h:
Aston Martin Vanquish 17.4 s
Ferrari 550 Maranello 14.6 s
Lamborghini Murciélago 11.4 s
Mercedes SL55 AMG 13.7 s
Porsche GT2 13.1 s
0-300 km/h:
Aston Martin Vanquish 55.0 s
Ferrari 550 Maranello 61.2 s
Lamborghini Murciélago 34.2 s
Mercedes SL55 AMG 32.5 s
Porsche GT2 40.9 s
Top speed:
Aston Martin Vanquish 316 km/h
Ferrari 550 Maranello 306 km/h
Lamborghini Murciélago 330 km/h
Mercedes SL55 AMG 325 km/h
Porsche GT2 315 km/h
The Mercedes Sl55 AMG (with automatic transmission and tons of extra options) is the fastest car to 300 km/h and only slower in top speed than the twice as expensive Lamborghini...
Weight of the cars:
Aston Martin Vanquish 1863 kg
Ferrari 550 Maranello 1732 kg
Lamborghini Murciélago 1819 kg
Mercedes SL55 AMG 1974 kg
Porsche GT2 1446 kg
