'99 E55 switch in glove box? air vent?
Hi, just bought a '99 E55, no owner manual, saw a switch in the glove box. Anyone know what it does? It did not seem to turn off the light in the glove box. Airbag maybe?
Also, anyone know *why* MB would put a air conditioning vent in the center console / armrest???
Mystified,

It's not a bad idea if you put chocolate in there so it won't melt. Or, depending on how big it is an aftermarket DVD player may now stay cool if it's mounted inside the console.
I can think of a few reasons why it's good idea.
Cheers,
Darren

yes people who carry candy bars in the car, can put theirs inside the glove box or center counsel. or you can cool your un-opened soda inside the middle consul to make it a little colder.

He asked 2 separate questions. The first was regarding a switch, presumably electric by attempts to use it to shut off the light. The second was a WTF is the air conditioned glove box all about inquiry.

Rocker switch in glove box
Hi guys,
First of all thanks for all the help on the console A/C vent! Both informative and hilarious. I have not been getting out enough !
As for the switch in the glove box, when you open the glove box it is on the far left hand side, a small on-off type switch, like a smaller version of the centrally-mounted window up/down switch. No notation or any words on it though.
I am wondering if it is some aftermarket stuff. The guy put a K40 2000P in the car previously, maybe it is related. But it does not look drilled-in - more of a factory look.
I will try to take a pic, maybe it is only on the 1999 model and not on the 2000-2002 newer body style.
Thanks again! Aaron

My 99 E55 does not have a switch in the glove box except the one for the light which actually sticks out of the light's lens.
BTW now that I've looked in there and realized I have a light, the bulb is burt out... thanks alot.
