Well, it's official now; I'm an E55 owner. We just bought a 2001 with 83K; silver with two-tone interior.
I bought it to replace an old, beat up 1991 Mazda RX-7 that I was driving. The wife kept mumbling about not being able to put a baby seat in it or something...
She drives a BMW 540i and we've been so impressed with the fit and finish of the German cars that I decided I was going to buy an E-class. I looked at a diesel, a 320 and a 430 before stumbling onto this E55. It has higher miles, but I've read that the cars are bulletproof.
Are there any general items that tend to wear on these cars that I should check out?

Congrats on your new ride. The 2001 models are W210's, i'm not too familiar with them, but i'm sure someone here can give you a heads up on them.

EVERYTHING wears out especially if you drive and mod it like you should, so get the checkbook ready for some fun. Just replace any worn parts with aftermarkets and the next thing you know, you will have the mod bug.
