Dyno? Not yet....I will soon.

Do it different and share it with us.

The MAF is closer to 3.5".The elbow that connects to the MAF is 3.5"

Why make the intake larger then the MAF? Velocity stack. Old news, proven benefit.

Its not a true velocity stack, alot of times a narrower but longer intake tube will give better low end to midrange and short & wider gives better top end so to say its necessarily better is not 100% accurate. Either way not bad. I personally would have routed it down to the front bumper and done it a different way but not bad. You gonna get the E430 style MB plastic engine cover just so it looks nicer? (I would suggest it).

True, mine is not a designed velocity stack. That would take a smooth funnel down system designed to compress the air flow. In order to get the biggest K&N, I went with a 4" inlet cone.

My cone has two inlets of cold air reaching it without direct contact of road spray (rocks and water). You already know that our E55 has a secondary bumper inlet.....I utilized it with a intake tube directing the air flow at and below my cone filter. I also have the original air inlet from the factory system directing air to the filter. Cold air reaching the intake with a low risk of direct contamination is a win-win to me.

Hey boys, I have finished designing my new true cold air intake. It has taken me a few weeks but all the parts should be here soon. I am going to dyno it very soon and I think you guys are going to like the quality of the product. IF dyno gains are there I will sell the kit for a VERY affordable price ($150-200 for the final product). Anyways i'll keep yall updated

P.S. Not trying to show you up AMG driven , just doing it a different way. Great job though, you inspired me to finally get up off my *** and do intakie.

hey guys, did an exact measurement of the MAS, its actually 3.25" ID and 3.3" OD, never seen an MAS that was on a 1/4 inch increment, usually they are 3.0 or 3.5". Anywyas seems like 3.5 is the perfect size for it them, requires a silicone reducer but not a big deal, everything will be included in the kit of course. I'll let yall know once its installed. ttyl

Hey guys....

Pics are VERY VERY close . Just spent all day working on the intake. Just gotta get an open time slot to figure out when I can dyno the intake. its gonna be 3.5" black powdercoat w/ black Turbo 4-ply silicone hoses (not the cheap ebay ones, the real deal). It should turn out pretty nice can't wait to take pics soon. I will let yall know what it sounds like and how the performance is on it.

First off, hello omeyhomey.

Second off, the "cheap ones on ebay" I used are 4 ply with a 200 psi max.
Soooooo....your 4-ply is the real deal?
