Does anyone know how to fix the Cupholder door. The cover will not return to the orginal position?

Any suggestions would be appreciate

My 00 sometimes wont return to the original position. But if you fiddle with it a bit like try different force levels, apply pressure on one corner while closing versus the other, speed etc. you can always get it to close. I was quoted $400+ to replace it, f that.

I have that same issue with my 2001 on an intermittent basis. I jiggle some loose plastic pieces on the inside sides and then it seems to close.

I no longer have my 01' but remember a similar issue with my vehicle. I remember removing the unit out of the console and then "resyncing" the gears somehow by operating it while out of the unit. Then replacing back in. Sorry I can't help more. It's been several years and several MB's later..

I have to agree with xxaarraa...use different force with it. It has happened to me also, and I tried it slow and than really fast and forceful. It eventually worked. It still does it occassionally (spelling?).
