List of the cool things that aren't in our manuals!!
Alright guys and girls....Lets make a list of all the things that we can do that aren't mentioned in the manual. Example: ECU reset, how to eliminate traction control...
Yesterday I found out from one of you guys on here that I can roll the windows up and down just by holding the lock/unlock button on my key.
I want everyone with these cars to post cool things like that on here so we can all have one thread to go to that will explain it all. So we can either print it, or send a fellow member here to get this info.
I don't know about all of you, but it would be great to know all of this, especially for the people like me that don't know everything about these cars.

Here is the one for ECU reset:
Here are the instructions per Jakpro1's post:
1. Turn the ignition key to the on (not start) position.
2. Press the gas pedal to the floor and hold for five seconds.
3. Turn the key to the "off" position (don't remove the key), then release the gas pedal.
4. Wait at least two minutes for ECU to reset.

OK, YOU ASKED. IN THE DIAG. CONNECTOR (MUSHROOM 38 PIN) JUMP PINS 1 AND 6. THEN START CAR UP. HIT YOUR 0 BUTTON 2 TIMES OR SO TO TAKE THE MESSAGES OFF THE SCREEN. YOU ARE NOW IN DIAG MODE. ABS,BAS,ESP LIGHTS WILL BE ON BUT THERE SHOULD BE NO INTERVENTION ON THE THROTTLE CONTROL OR THE BRAKES APPLYING. BASICALLY IT'S OLD SCHOOL DYNO MODE.TURN CAR OFF AND REMOVE JUMPER, THERE SHOULD BE NO CODES PRESENT AND IT'S BACK TO NORMAL. I'VE DONE THIS QUITE A FEW TIMES W/ NO PROBLEMS. ANOTHER IDEA IS TO TAP INTO THE #6 WIRE AND RUN IT INSIDE THE CAR TO A TOGGLE SWITCH, OTHER SIDE TO GRD.,AND THEN USE THE SAME PROCEDURE, JUST EASIER AND READILY AVAILABLE. IF THE KEY IS ON WHEN YOU GO TO SWITCH MODES NOTHING WILL HAPPEN, FROM WHAT I FOUND. THIS WORKS ON CARS AS FAR BACK AS THE 124 500E. IF THE CAR HAS ASR,ESP, THIS WILL WORK. I'M NOT SURE ON CARS W/ ETS LIKE ML'S, I'VE NEVER TRIED. I NOW HEAR ALOT OF FEET RUNNING TO THE GARAGE, HAPPY TIRE BURNING. LITEMUP.

Some people choose to reset their ECU's for a brand new start to the car, I believe the transmission adapts to the the way you drive and acts accordingly. And about the ECU upgrade... I think there is a company named Powerchips that does the upgrade, it basically enhances your driving experience with more power, and all that good stuff.

Thanks !
I am wondering about the best place to spend money, I only have 7,000 miles on the car and have decided I want to play with it some. So, start with ECU reprogram or something else ? It's totally stock right now...

'04 Silverado Z71 - sold all my Benzes and need another!
From what I've read RennTech seems to be of choice with their ECU chip and high-flow airbox upgrade. They're not cheap though coming in around $3500 bucks. PowerChip is about $1000 bucks for their chip and I know that Rafi has one and likes it.
