Received AMG magazine from Affalterbach today

anyone else get it?
As your State side, I believe all you have to do is register and log into AMG's new member lounge, found at http://www.mercedes-amg.com/privatel...n_external.php Once you register, I believe they send you one to mark their 40th Birthday.
If you have any doubts, simply contact AMG marketing direct at marketing-amg@mercedes-amg.com and they should, if you send them a nice email, oblige with a copy of their excellent publication. Definitely a collectors item, love mine!

I got the magazine a while back and its great, although I have to say its bettered by the new book – http://www.amazon.com/AMG-Reaching-S...7886918&sr=8-4
If you havent got it and have a few bucks burning a hole in your pocket, it's a great purchase. I read it cover to cover over a few days. It is so interesting, as it covers the amazing people behind the cars, as much as the cars themselves. Thus giving a very human element to the company and the amazing community we are all fortunate to be part of. Highly recommended!
Hope the above is of interest!

The Best of Mercedes & AMG
Website is all in German, but I just called them up to order it & they spoke excellent English etc.
Nath is right, about the behind the scenes insight, the book gives you.
Particularly enjoyed reading about the 'Manufaktur' method or one man, one engine production details. Confirmed my belief that these are very special, high quality cars (my car just does not burn any engine oil, just as well given the price of Mobil 1!)
The motor sport history and AMG's dominance of DTM racing in Germany is very impressive.
There's a fascinating section on the 2 entrepreneurs, who established AMG, Hans Werner Aufrecht & Erhard Melcher in 1967. 2 complete opposites, who complemented each other perfectly. Aufrecht, the businessman & Melcher, the innovative engineer. As a biker myself, I enjoyed reading that Melcher was & still is a motorcycle nut. He had only ever built racing bike engines. He knew nothing about cars & didn't even have a car driving licence. His engineering office included a piano, table tennis table & a model railway!
There are also lots of historical motor racing photos & beautifully detailed modern shots of the cars & engines.
Regarding the 40th Anniversary mag from AMG, did you also receive the excellent AMG DVD, Edition VIII, featuring details on the company/vehicles/events etc?
Chris
Jimmy, it really is a great investment and Chris's detailed review above is just the tip of the iceberg. The only downside is when you finish it you wonder what else to read? It aint cheap (although Chris's procurement suggestion maybe just the ticket) but it's a great reflection of the cars we drive.
In the end I got mine for £42.50 shipped to the UK from the States, which is not too bad.

That book is over $65 bucks! Is the info in it worth it???
