Air Intake from W211 on W210 ??

I know that some supercharged W210 E55s have the air intake box from the W211 E55, but is there any merit to adapting the same intake onto a Non S/C W210 E55? Has any one done it, any advise, comments?

If one can design a heat shield for the exposed air filters in front of the air intake tubes, I believe there would definitely be some merit in the 211/210 conversion. just my two cents

Just my 2 cents. Don't think you'll benefit anything if you don't have a s/c. Think it's more for aesthetics.

Only when the ponies fart. That's where you'd get your four.

You can blueprint your airbox for better flow. Take it apart and remove all the plastic blocks and round the hard corners. Add ponys??

Would it be safe to do so? What are all of those blocks there for in the first place if they can be removed? Just wondering...

I think they are left over from the manufacturing process. It'd be too labor intensive to remove them for minimal gains.

If you're chasing small gains, go for it... but I doubt you'll be able to feel a difference. You can also try adding some insulation to the bottom of the airbox, it's been done before. But again, small gains.

i was thinking about sanding all the ridges in my air box today.

i done it in my last car and there was a definite improvement in airflow and performance. But its a lot of work

In my American made racecar I had my air cleaner, carb., intake, and heads blueprinted by removing size and smoothing all corners it helped.

I did my E55 air box and do feel more pep in mid to upper rpm's. Remember guys every little bit helps to add to the total power output some small and some large. If I Super Charge or NOS my engine I will feel the 100 extra hp or if I do little things they all add up sooner or later. What can we make HP wise on these maybe 30 to 45 HP extra by all the little mods like: X-Pipe, Headers, Air filters, Pulley, Air box mod, secondary cats, cool down the air charge to intake, LSD and gears, etc. You can always just drive it like the designers made it for you to do?
